We absolutely loved staying at Riverbed Guesthouse! The room + bath are spacious, super clean, stylish and comfy. We really appreciated the little details e.g. the coffee machine incl. milk frother. The garden is awesome with a nice pool, a little stream in the back and a beautiful view on the mountains. Further, the owners were super friendly - we immediately felt welcome and at home. Amazing place, 10 points is too little for it! Great family mansion with family atmosphere - I felt at home while staying there. Owners offered home made jams and trout for breakfast, they have two amazing friendly dogs. There is a great pool and a perfect sitting area just to enjoy your Swellendham evening while having a slow talk with other travellers. Big room, fast wi-fi, warm welcome from the owners - exceptional place to stay!

The rooms are cozy and clean. The breakfast was excellent: strong coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, and a choice of delicious menu items. Exceptionally professional and pleasant staff. Owners were delightful and truly cared about our comfort and stay. I cannot say enough about the on-site restaurant. We travel all over the world and we found the restaurant to be world-class: beautiful presentation, creative dishes, excellent wine list, knowledgeable and professional service, and plentiful entree combinations.

So Swellendam is not an international hot spot. BUT if you are travelling the Garden Route, it can be a good intermediate stop. We were visiting friends, our group was too large so a family of 3 stayed here. Wonderful place, yummy breakfast, great accommodation - furnishing and amenities were to a high standard. Location was safe and close to some nice shopping and restaurants. close to nature walks. Hosts was very kind, helpful and pleasant.
