This location is situated in a small village nearby to Hampi. I had a great stay at Mango Tree Homestay. The staff was very friendly and were able to check me in as soon as I arrived, even though it was hours before check-in. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and full of character. Overall a great value. Lakshmi, the proprietor made great dosas each morning, and Mustafa, the auto rickshaw driver, made exploring the surrounding ruins a breeze. I was actually most impressed with Mango Tree by something that happened after I checked out. I had just sat down to eat lunch at a restaurant when I suddenly began to feel very sick. Mustafa took be back to the hotel, stopping on the way to pick up some rehydration drinks. Lakshmi set up a bed for me even though I had already checkout out, and since I was having stomach trouble, even prepared a simple bowl of rice and curd (yogurt). They made a potentially difficult and dangerous situation far more manageable. This is the sort of treatment you'll never get at a big hotel or resort.

This place is great. Right in the middle of town. So close to everything. But more importantly, Krish and the people he connected us to were astonishing. One of the best places we've stayed at during our 3 weeks in India! The property is being run by a whole family (who live there too) and they were SO lovely. Our host was incredibly friendly and helpful, genuinely interested, not being pushy, and left us our privacy. We had home cooked meals from his wife both days and of my god, they were SO good. The room itself was very basic, but clean and very good value for money. Warm water was a first for us and a real treat. The location was amazing, right by the impressive river and only 15 mins walk from most attractions, another 10 mins tuk tuk drive from further attractions. We felt very safe and relaxed and would recommend to anyone and come back any time.
