4Seasons Holiday Home was an excellent experience and exceeded our expectations. The house was extremely clean with excellent lighting and many fans. You get an entire house with a huge living area, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, big bedroom with strong AC, big bathroom and huge balcony. The bathroom has hot water, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and a new toothbrush. We had fresh clean towels offered. There is filtered water directly from the tap, as well as multiple bottles of water throughout the house. Janaka and Mali were AMAZING hosts and we felt like they were our Sri Lankan mom and dad. They were so warm and kind, and extremely attentive. There are waterfalls around that you can visit, and of course the gem market is strong. There are various gem markets to visit including cut and polished market and the rough market. We also visited a few mines close by. The town is a 5 min walk away from the house to get anything you need. We would definitely return here when we come back to Ratnapura.

Gem Fields Rest Hotel has got to be the most convenient hotel for anyone passing through or staying in Rathnapura. Whether you are travelling by car or public transport the hotel works well being just a short walk from the town centre. At the same time it is far enough away from the hubbub to feel calm, almost rural. Bhanu is a fabulous host who goes out of his way to ensure his guests enjoy their stay. Brilliant breakfasts which can be provided to personal taste are served on the lovely balcony overlooking the garden. Bhanu is a wealth of information on local sights and the Sri Lankan culture in general. The staff and the host were very friendly and easy going. We appreciates to stay in a local, down-to-earth place, where we could learn a lot about the history of the place and engage with the local community. We chose the place as it offered tours to sapphire mines, and it met oyr expextations!

OK, so this was certainly the most expensive accommodation of our trip but wow! The Kurunduketiya Private Rainforest Luxury Resort is a place like no other: embedded in the rainforest and a tough trek away from the nearest paved road the building is simply extraordinary. Raised on stilts with two huge bedrooms at either side enclosed on three sides by glass walls with an 'open air' living area in the middle this has got to be one of the most unusual holiday locations ever. Our group of four was looked after by the two wonderful managers who not only cooked and served the most delicious food morning and evening but heaved our heavy baggage from car to villa over challenging terrain, gave us insights into the amazing environment and its wild residents and even took us on a rain forest hike. The aquarium-like bedrooms (only you are inside looking out) are amazing. Uninterrupted views of the forest on three sides with the best shower ever - no curtains, no shutters just another huge window looking out on to forest and a tumbling stream! Below the building is a natural 'swimming pool' fed by spring water.

Super nice guest house! Perfect location just away from the noise of traffic and all the pilgrims. Beautiful surroundings, the family is lovely and very helpful and kind. They make the best rice and curry and they were so kind to wait for us even though we came in late in the evening. They know when is the best time to go up to the peak so take their advice. Rooms are clean and spacious, mosquitoe nets without holes and comfortable bed, slept really well. Everything was very good!

Situated 5 minutes walk to Adam's Peak in Nallathanniya, Queens Ark features free WiFi access and free private parking. Certain units feature a seating area to relax in after a busy day.
