I was sold on Dar Hkaïem from the reviews here on Booking as well as on HostelWorld, and it certainly lived up to my expectations. Toutou is an incredible host who was flexible in allowing me to check in early, helped me arrange transport, cooked amazing breakfasts (and dinner) even during Ramadan when he himself was fasting. From the personalized cookies (amazing!) upon arrival to the moment I left and even beyond, it was clear that Toutou wanted to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable. We even went to a café one evening with his friend and played card games, which was one of the highlights of my entire trip to Tunisia. As for the guesthouse itself, the decor is great, the space is clean, and my room was cute, comfortable, and safe. Centered around a center courtyard, there are only a few guest rooms (my first night, I was the only guest), a toilet, shower room, and small kitchen. I was also happy that my room was big enough to allow me to unroll my yoga mat with some space to spare. I have friends who live in Tunis and emphatically recommended Dar Hkaïem to them...and I recommend it to you, too!

This is the second time we book and it is definitely not the last. This time we booked the amazing deluxe apartment which was perfectly furnished with much taste and eye for details. You will have everything you need for a calm and relaxed stay. The kitchen is equipped with all necessary cooking tools (even a hand blender) Everything was clean mattresses in all 4 rooms are so comfy. The host as usual was very welcoming and kind. Already gifting us with fruits and drinks in the fridge and offering us a beautiful surprise with one of the best pastry in town! Such a lovely property corresponding exactly what was displayed. Spacious and comfortable with everything needed. Nothing was missing. The exceptional and cosy terrace was absolutely stunning and allowed nice relaxing with decor that was so tasteful and nice. Living area and kitchen very functional and exactly as in the photos. Bedroom was spacious and having the in-suite bathroom was a great plus. Bed was comfortable with quality sheets. Truly good value for money.

The breakfast was lovely, and the staff was really kind and helpful. The place is incredible; an old house, nicely renovated and with a long family history. It was a nice experience. The place was clean and the bed was really comfortable. It is in the heart of the old city and we could explore it and enjoy it. It was a real cultural experience to stay there.
