The train is very convenient, and the Old Nags Head pub is worth a visit. There really is very little else to the town. I recommend a stay in Castleton instead. This was a February trip so the weather was often wet but there are plenty of other things to do besides walking. One minor disadvantage is the lack of a bus service in the village (we were using public transport), but trains are generally reliable from the local station and other places accessible from Hope or Hathersage. Visitor Centre was closed during February half-term - a shame as it could have been useful. Great atmosphere in this village, by day and by night. Poor Wi-Fi connection.
Poor Wi-Fi connection. When I stayed in different accommodation previously I experienced the same issue. A lovely cafe next to the train station. If it wasn’t for the length of stay I would have explored other places to eat outside Edale. Be aware that poor signal may affect your ability to park in some car parks in the area.
