As a suburb of Sunderland, Ryhope provides a useful base for exploring the wider area, but would likely not be a destination in itself, unless friends or family lived there. It is, however, easily accessible and within easy reach of beaches and places of interest (e.g. Beamish and Durham or the Northumberland coast).
