Shanklin esplanade is clean and offers a nice beach and places to stop off for food and drink. Old Shanklin has some pretty properties and great places to eat. A visit to Fishermans Cottage on the beach is a must for food and sunsets. In town, we ate well at Pendletons and The Black Cat. Shanklin is a great centre for visiting anywhere on the island.

Shanklin is fairly compact but basically in 2 parts on 2 levels, the Esplanade (prom) and the Old Village/Town Centre High Street. There are plenty of places to eat in both areas. Accessing the Esplanade can be done by car/bus/on foot. There is plenty of parking on the Esplanade if you drive down.

Good little town with shops bars and restaurants. The old village is quaint with thatched cottages, shops and pubs with great food . There is shanklin chine to visit and road that takes you down to promenade. It is quite hilly .

We loved Shanklin especially the old town, its very quaint, clean and friendly, beautiful old buildings, steeped in history, the Chine was well worth the visit along with the Old English Tea shop and The Fisherman's Cottage Inn, food was lovely! The Village Inn and The crab was pleasant and the food was good, the beach and esplanade is definitely worth a visit, (be mindful if your using the lift there is a £1.00 fee) there nice, welcoming and friendly places to eat and drink and the beach is beautiful and sandy, we enjoyed every moment

Shanklin is such a picturesque village and very clean.

Shanklin is such a picturesque village and very clean. It is hilly but after a few days of walking, you get used to this! I loved visiting Shanklin Chine. Here's a tip: if you are staying in Shaklin, visit the Chine at the beginning of your stay as you are then entitled to walk through the Chine for the rest of the week for no additional cost! This provides an interesting and picturesque walk leading directly down to Shanklin beach. My favourite dining experience was at The Steamers Inn. The staff are so friendly and the venue feels like you are on the continent overlooking the sea! Last but not least, the regular bus service is fantastic. The No. 3 bus covers the east of the island and also into Newport, so getting around the island is easy!

We stayed at this location due to review I saw regarding this hotel, this met ever expectation and more from the review I read. They are very welcoming nothing is to big for them if you need anything you can get in contact with them. Rooms were great very peaceful, we was welcomed with home made cake and drink. A choice of breakfast every morning mine was an omelette with fresh fruit to start was so nice. Would recommend anyone wanting to stay in the iow visit this place it will not disappoint

The best property I have stayed in on the Island, and I have stayed in a few over the years! Perfect location within Shanklin (5 minutes from the station, the beach and the old village), exceptional breakfast, comfortable room, lovely "family" atmosphere, and excellent, "chilled-out" service. I didn't have time during my short visit to relax in the front garden, with its sun loungers and picnic benches, but it looked very pleasant. Highly recommended!

We had a fabulous stay at the Eastmount Hall Hotel, beautiful hotel with amazing views and the bonus of a heated pool. The location was perfect, close to the beach and town centre which was great for getting to and from the IOW festival. Jill, Julian and Lily the dog were fantastic hosts and we look forward to coming back again

Beautiful, comfortable, well equipped rooms. Scrupulously clean and furnished tastefully. Breakfast was great , a real bonus. The owners and staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. Will certainly consider this property for our return visit to the fantastic IOW. Very close to the old Shanklin town and close to the coast.
