The place is very special and unique. The rooms are amazing, comfortable and with fantastic outdoor seating to a great view. I really enjoyed my stay at Royal Lion Hotel. The room was large, clean, and had a very comfortable bed. Waking up to the beautiful mountain view was just perfect. The staff were super nice and helpful throughout my stay. Breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning. Highly recommended for a relaxing and scenic getaway!

This is really a quiet haven against the backdrop of the bustling city of Kandy. We were welcomed with cool towels and refreshments and the owner could not do more to make our stay fantastic. This included a complimentary lift into town, an extended check out and help with transport and tours. Nothing was too much trouble! The hotel is in a beautiful building, tastefully furnished with lots of terraces/areas to relax and with the added benefit of a pool. The breakfast was delicious and served in the beautiful first floor dining room with fantastic views. The most remarkable value for money - couldn’t recommend more highly!

This place is a must when in Kandy. In fact, we'd specifically want to go back to Kandy just to go to this hotel again and enjoy the peacefulness and AMAZING food. We've already been to a number of hotels and restaurants in Sri Lanka, and while we've sampled superb dishes, Umesh's talents in the kitchen remain unparalleled. Kudos, sir!! In terms of location, the hotel is easy access to the city, but also is in a calm area surrounded by sounds of birds and squirrels hopping around in the trees across. Everything was very clean, comfortable, and lux. The clove shower gel and soap were also a smart touch. Finally, the staff at any place are always a critical contributor to the overall experience. At Clove Villa, Danushka and Umesh were the clincher. Both were so polite, friendly, professional, and always ready to go above and beyond to accommodate any requests. Thank you both!
