Was lovely to stay in a cosy accomodation more like a house.Bordeaux retreat was extremely clean comfortable with delicious cookies on arrival.The fridge / pantry stocked with milk fresh bread, cereal, tea and coffee all on offer. Hayley was very very quick to communicate and gave us some great tips on where to have dinner. We slept incredibly well and had a lovely breakie on the deck overlooking the garden.

Easy to find, close to my destination (Hampton Downs), spotlessly clean and tidy, decor was fresh and bright, bathroom was excellent, very clean, good fan for keeping cool at night, mosquito nets on windows so they could be left open at night were much appreciated.

The town is next to the Waikato river so you can walk along...

The town is next to the Waikato river so you can walk along it. They have walking trails also. You can cross the river upstream and visit the huntly power station. There's a lake across the railroad tracks 5 minutes from the town centre where you can picnic or go for a swim.

We walked around Lake Hakanoa. Really interesting walk.

We walked around Lake Hakanoa. Really interesting walk. Good picnic spots. Shame some areas had litter. Had a fish meal at Huntly Fish and Chip Shop. Highly recommend. Lovely people. Lovely service. Food was lovely and plentiful. We ate in. We went to Lake Puketrini. Would be good place for a walk and picnic. Unfortunately the Coal museum was closed. There are items referring to the coal mining in the town. They are interesting. some good shops in Huntly. Parking can be at a premium.

Went Hamilton for Fieldays but nearby hotels were fully booked, choose this one located in the center of Huntly, around 40min drive to Hamilton city and 50min drive to Fieldays. A good choice for those who just want to have a place to sleep and have limited budget. Has its own parking lot but you need the hotel room key to enter. Staff is helpful, only if you can find one - they run both the hotel and a restaurant..

Although it used to be a old hospital with decor that match the 1920 or 30s era we found it quite comfortable. My daughter loved sleeping in a big four posted bed. The shared lounge/dining area was awesome looking out over huntly.

Excellent location overlooking the wider Huntly area. Some real character about this location so I'm really pleased we deviated off the track to Huntly. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Excellent value for money.
