It’s beyond my expectations! All the things here are so comfortable and nice, and the location is great. I like the room, gym and bar. By the way the IPA beer in the bar is so good! And the bartender Ady is very professional and kind. I will recommend CitizenM to my friends and also post my recommendation in my social media soon.

FAQs about hotels in Chicago

Our Kind of Town

Standing proud beside Lake Michigan, Chicago is down-to-earth, friendly, and abounding in culture. It has outdoor art by famous artists including Chagall and Picasso, and there are some fascinating architectural examples from the Art Institute of Chicago.

Home to blues and house music, Chicago has an eclectic music scene that reflects its spirit. The Windy City is also a pioneer in a variety of Americanized dishes from it's European immigrant roots like deep-dish pizza and the Chicago hot dog.

The world’s first skyscraper and Ferris wheel were erected in Chicago. The latter, on Navy Pier, is one of the Midwest’s most visited sights. Also famed is the ‘L’ transport system, whose raised trains circle The Loop, the main business district. Check out its skyline reflection in the shiny bean sculpture in huge Millennium Park.

Home of the Bulls and Bears, Chicago is a stronghold of sport and has teams playing baseball, basketball, American football and hockey, to name a few. If you get a chance, try to catch a game.

Chicago Midway and Chicago O’Hare Airport are both on the outskirts of this vast city, so make sure to leave enough time for travel from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or hostel. And all that jazz.

In general I like this city - plenty of points to visit, like observation decks, museums, waterfront activities, even subway ride could be fun. Downtown is walkable and has bike lanes. Quite clean in downtown and northern parts. Nice views of the river and lake. A lot of socializing events happening in the city. The main problem is transportation system. If you just travel from O'Hare to downtown and back - you're fine, but for other areas it could be tricky. The buses are slow because the time loss on the stops and traffic lights, and the subway ("L") lines frequency except blue and red lines leaves much to be desired. Last time we traveled on Green Line from King Dr, and the train just didn't come, so we had to wait another 20 min for the next one, which is very uncomfortable. In a comparison with NYC, the transportation there is much better. Also, the areas on the south side have a lot of rubbish on the streets and you can meet some strange people there sometimes.

This was my first time visiting Chicago and all I can wish is to have stayed additional days. The train is all you need to go everywhere. The architecture boat tour is something you can't miss, my recommendation is to do start it right before the sunset to have the opportunity of seeing the city during the day and also at night. Deep dish pizza at Giordano's or at Lou Malnati's, try to do a reservation to not wait too long for a table.

Wow what a city, dont know where to start

Wow what a city, dont know where to start Architecture Boat Tour is a must, Chinatown MCCB restaurant food to die for. The Bean, Buckingham Fountain and Grant Park are fab. Divy Bike hire from there to Lincoln Park Zoo on the lakefront trail past Navy Pier was so cool, beach and lake on one side of you and skyscrapers on the other. Skydeck at Willis Tower. Ventra Pass for the CTA $20 for the week unlimited on buses and the L, so worth it, includes to and from O'Hare airport. L is super easy and buses are too, Citymapper works well for navigating Chicago. Blackhawks and Bulls Games, not too expensive in the gods. Magnificent Mile, complete with Starbucks Reserve, as a treat, go to the 4th floor for cocktails, not cheap but your local SB will never seem the same again. Gibson's Steakhouse, again NOT cheap but omg . Had 7 days whilst out there for the marathon and was not ready to come home. My favourite US city to date by a long way.

Chicago is the cleanest and most cooperative city center we've ever visited and we've seen quite a few. We were out during rush hour, evenings and day times and everywhere we went people were courteous. No need for city art even though there is some because everywhere you look there are beautiful buildings to see, all clean and well maintained. The Ventra pass makes taking a bus easy and affordable but there is a lot to see and do within a reasonable walking distance. Lots of places to eat and get coffee when you want to rest too. DO not miss the architectural river tour especially at sunset !

Wonderful Chicago that helped me celebrate my birthday with great humour and style. Her architecture is uniquely majestic, streets inviting and the lake; everything and more than I hoped for. Truly magical! I spent long, happy hours people watching along the river walks and in awe of her serene heritage from the architecture boat tour. By the end of my four day visit, I felt extremely comfortable in her company and look forward to being there again. Thank you!

Very friendly and helpful staff. The look and feel of the property was amazing - it’s a historical charm that’s been renovated and now has a modern twist. love the niche restaurants and bars within the complex - gives it a very Chicago feel. On the outskirts of the loop we were close but not in the hustle and bustle of the downtown district which suited us as Magnificent mile and river walk very close. Highly recommend staying here - would definitely stay here again myself!!!

Perfectly located for downtown Chicago and a great choice of lovely restaurants. Hotel had great facilities and spacious rooms. The breakfast staff, Fannie and Javier went out of their way every morning with their friendly greeting. They work so hard to give everybody a great experience. All the reception were always very friendly and helpful. Check was quick and easy and we were able to have our room even though we arrived early.

Thank you to all the staff at the Royal Sonesta Chicago Downtown for making our stay a special one. We were in Chicago on a family trip and the hotel was perfect. The view was beautiful. The cleanliness throughout the entire property was amazing, but everyday the housekeeping team presented our room beautifully. The location was great with really accessible transport links.
