FAQs about hotels in Ho Chi Minh City

Asian Tradition, French Flair and Growing Modernity

With delicious Vietnamese aromas, small silk shops and ancient pagodas, the streets of Ho Chi Minh City dazzle tourists with their vibrant atmosphere. Its rich culture includes beautiful French colonial palaces mixed with modern skyscrapers that show the power of Vietnam’s economic capital.

Whether you decide to visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the City Hall, or the Municipal Theater, you’ll see the care shown by Saigonese people in preserving their historic legacy. On the other hand, the Haussmann-style boulevards are typically packed with small motorcycles that make every street crossing a whole new experience.

Contemporary Saigon can be seen in places like the Bitexco Financial Tower, located directly at central Ham Nghi Blvd. Meanwhile, Saigon Center or Zen Plaza are some of its modern shopping malls.

For a look into Vietnam’s recent history, don’t miss the Reunification Palace or the War Remnants Museum. A sunset visit to the 23rd September Park is the best way to mingle with the locals.

Indulge yourself in one of the 5-star Ho Chi Minh hotels, or stay in a budget hotel at Pham Ngu Lao Street. Don’t miss the Ho Chi Minh City accommodations on Booking.com before arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport!

We stayed in the west of District 1 for 2 days at the beginning of our trip. And then returned at the end to stay 2 more nights in Japantown at the end of our trip. I loved both times and will definitely dedicate more time to Ho Chi Mihn City next time. City has a great mix of older French style buildings and more modern buildings. The food is amazing and so cheap! I highly recommend a food tour on a tandem scooter. It was a fun way to see the city while enjoying some amazing food. There was about 11 dishes in total from 4 different places. The Cu Chi tunnels and Mekong Delta is also a must. The Sky tower is also amazing!

Overall, my experience in Ho Chi Minh City was disappointing...

Overall, my experience in Ho Chi Minh City was disappointing. The language barrier made communication difficult, and in many cases, vendors didn’t seem interested in trying to understand. Prices for tourists were often extremely inflated, and places like Ben Thanh Market felt like a complete rip-off. The staff there were quite rude, and if you decided not to purchase an item after checking it, they would become visibly upset or even say things in their language, which was uncomfortable and unpleasant. The city itself is very busy, crowded, and overwhelming, and the overall atmosphere felt stressful rather than enjoyable. I also had a negative experience at massage parlours—nothing about tipping was mentioned beforehand, but after a basic 30-minute massage, they would demand a minimum USD $5 tip, even when the service was not good. One of the most disappointing parts of the trip was at the international airport, where the immigration officers were extremely rude. The queues for immigration and check-in were chaotic and disorganised. If the city wants to attract more tourists, these areas definitely need improvement. On a positive note, I will say the café culture was lovely — Vietnam has some beautiful cafés and great coffee experiences.

Ho Chi Minh is a vibrant city with lots of French influence.

Ho Chi Minh is a vibrant city with lots of French influence. The city has many interesting places to visit like the city centre with the Opera House and statue of Ho Chi Minh, Ben Thanh markets, Ben Nghe street food restaurants, Independence Palace and War Remnants museum. Outside the city is the Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong river which are both day trips. The restaurants are fantastic with tasty food and the famous egg coffee at ‘Egg Yolk’ was a hit.

Ho Chi Minh City is a vibrant, bustling destination that...

Ho Chi Minh City is a vibrant, bustling destination that perfectly blends tradition with modern energy. The moment you arrive, you’re struck by the sheer pace of life—scooters zipping by, street vendors calling out, and the aroma of delicious food on every corner. There’s no shortage of things to do here. The War Remnants Museum and the Independence Palace are must-visits if you want to understand Vietnam’s history and resilience. The Notre Dame Cathedral and Central Post Office, both beautiful colonial-era landmarks, make for great photo stops and a taste of the city’s French influence. For those who enjoy shopping and culture, the Ben Thanh Market is lively and full of bargains, souvenirs, and authentic Vietnamese street food. If you’re looking for something a little more unique, Bui Vien Street is the nightlife hub, with bars, restaurants, and a buzzing backpacker scene. Day trips are another highlight. A visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels is eye-opening—you can even crawl through the tunnels yourself to get a sense of Vietnam’s wartime history. The Mekong Delta tour is equally memorable, offering boat rides through lush waterways, visits to floating markets, and chances to see traditional village life up close. Of course, food is everywhere and always incredible. From a simple bowl of pho on the street to trendy rooftop restaurants with city views, Ho Chi Minh City delivers on flavor. Don’t miss trying banh mi, fresh spring rolls, and local iced coffee. The city can be chaotic at times—traffic is intense and crossing the road feels like an adventure in itself—but that’s part of its charm. It’s loud, energetic, and full of character. Overall, Ho Chi Minh City is an exciting destination for travelers who want history, culture, food, and a bit of chaos rolled into one. It’s a city that keeps you on your toes and leaves you with unforgettable memories.

Sensational hotel in district 3 - more interesting than district 1 and better for walking around yet still close to district 1. Super attentive staff - always helpful and friendly. Amazing cocktails in lobby, pool bar and roof top bar. Lovely pool and gym - better than most I have seen in Vietnam. We didn't have the breakfast but the menus and quality of food we saw looked amazing. Rooms are excellent. Just a really high quality hotel in Ho Chi Minh City that I would definitely stay at again.

Ideal for a short city break in Ho Chi Minh. My group stayed for two nights in two double rooms. Hotel in great location in District 1, located on a quiet street within a busier area. Lots of restaurant options a short walk away with a small 7 11 and circle k at the end of the road. Rooms were perfectly clean and air con was very strong. No street noise heard but could hear some noise from corridor/ next room - no issue with ear plugs. Staff were friendly.

Very nice and friendly host. Easy to reach and good society. The amazing view from the apartment exactly matches what's shown in the pictures. New apartment and modern furniture. The apartment feels like a 5 star hotel. There is a general store in the same building to arrange for the breakfast. A bit away from the city. 10 minutes drive (3-4 kms) to all the tourist attaractions (district 1). Tour pickup and drop off is not available from district 2.
