Our stay at The Marine Hermanus was truly exceptional. The hotel is elegant and beautifully located, offering stunning ocean views – we were even lucky enough to watch whales right from our room, which made the experience unforgettable. The room was spacious, spotless, and extremely comfortable, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing getaway. The restaurant exceeded our expectations with delicious food and excellent presentation, while the staff were incredibly professional, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel genuinely cared for. Overall, everything was simply outstanding – from the breathtaking views and whale watching to the fine dining and world-class service. We would highly recommend The Marine to anyone visiting Hermanus.

What a tastefully decorated guest house with exceptionally friendly and efficient staff. Let me start this review with a little spoiler: we had originally booked just one night, as a stopover on our road trip along the Garden Route. Well, barely 20 minutes after our arrival — after the tour of our room and the entire hotel, all the way to the terrace with that breathtaking view — we booked an extra night. It was love at first sight with Birkenhead House! What a hotel! How often do you still see that these days, by the way: people taking the time to show you not just your room, but the whole hotel? You can really feel how proud everyone here is — and rightly so! Having all meals and drinks included in the rate is also an incredible asset. And rest assured, no crowded buffets here, but friendly and discreet table service for your meals, as well as in the lounges or out on the terrace for a drink. Top-notch! Oh, and excellent beds too, featuring the best sleep aid in the world: the sound of the ocean! It’s actually that unique blend of the true boutique hotel atmosphere (a term that’s often overused but absolutely fitting here), the in-cre-di-ble location perched on the cliffs with (literally!) views of breaching whales behind the surfers, the intimacy, the delicious food & drinks, the stunning views from almost every spot, and — above all! — the wonderful staff, that make this hotel so exceptional. A huge thank you to the entire team for making our stay at Birkenhead House an absolute highlight of our trip! (...and thank God our room was available for that extra night!) :-)

Schulphoek Sea Front Hotel was honestly one of the best stays I’ve had – super peaceful with stunning ocean views right from the room. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the food was incredible (the breakfasts especially!). The whole place just has this calm, relaxing vibe, and it’s close enough to Hermanus without being busy or noisy. It really felt like a proper escape – I’d go back in a heartbeat.

good location, a few rooms but decorated in a very modern and highly artistic style which I admire. Celia a tasteful and enthusiastic owner, takes care of each visiter. She herself and other staff make the delicious breakfast every morning for us, can't wait to visit again. have to say among several trips in Hermanus, I enjoyed most in this hotel.

The service was excellent, Connor who was the main person we dealt with was outstanding, he helped arranged transfers to and from the Hotel for us with very limited notice. The location of this Hotel makes everything in Hermanus so close- you can walk everywhere. Would definitely stay again. Thank you Connor for being so helpful.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Well appointed rooms and stylish decor. Excellent breakfast and high quality food in the dining room. Location in Hermanus is unbeatable for shops,restaurants and coastal path. You can even see whales from the hotel! Easy parking at hotel.
