The hosts have carried out an excellent restoration on the property and were welcoming and helpful in every respect. Plathuis was formerly a railway station and the history of the line from Ladismith to Touws Rivier was fascinating.

Loved being able to relax and recharge at this awesome property while being in the Karoo desert. The house was amazing with everything I needed, from the kitchen to the bathroom and the large living area. The little touches all make a difference to the feel of the place - the large spacious lounge, the beautiful wooden counter tops in the kitchen and the stone floor in the bathroom shower - loved it. In particular I loved the skylight that allowed me to lie in bed and see the stars at the same time! The air feels so clear there. Added bonus was having the dam in front of the house with a small water view, and having the remnants of the old railway station across the road gave me sense of history of the area.

We were just looking for shelter from the rain for two nights and lucked out with Magoos on 62. Michelle was welcoming, and so accommodating. The rooms were lovely and spacious. The shared kitchen was clean and well stocked with cooking equipment. It was just the most comfortable stay. Thankyou Michelle

This is truly a hidden gem and we were so lucky not to miss it. When you’re in the cottage and in the grounds it truly feels like you’re in the bush, just with the added bonus that you have all of the cosiness and amenities of a very well curated cottage. The hosts are the most kind people & very helpful when needed and gave great advice about brilliant things we would have missed without their guidance. You will regret not choosing to stay here. Our stay at Aardvark Bioreserve’s Zebra Cottage was truly exceptional. The cottage is beautifully decorated and comfortable, equipped with luxury kitchen appliances, high-quality bed linen, and pure white towels and robes. The pool with a view was a big bonus. The fully equipped kitchen, complete with spices and an ice maker, made meal preparation a delight. We particularly enjoyed the fresh organic produce and free-range eggs provided by the farm. The outdoor fire-heated hot tub was very nice. The cottage is offering stunning unforgettable views of the Milky Way at night. And of course wildlife during the day, with zebras literally metres from your doorstep. We had a wonderful game drive over the impressive huge land, with stunning views. The peace and tranquility of the location, combined with the opportunity to observe zebras and elands from the comfort of the veranda, made our stay unforgettable. The exceptional attention of Annatjie and her staff, along with the contact upfront, made a difference. The hosts were incredibly hospitable, attending to our every need and even surprising us with freshly baked pie, olives, butter, chicken and homemade jam. Their passion for the farm and the Karoo is evident, and they made us feel truly welcome. Annatjie took us to their biological garden to pick their own vegetables, a nice educational experience! In every aspect, a 5/5 experience. We highly recommend Aardvark Bioreserve’s Zebra Cottage to anyone seeking a luxurious and peaceful retreat in the Klein Karoo. We look forward to returning.
