This is my favourite romantic getaway in Durban. It's located very close to the Umhlanga city centre and incredible beachfront. The rooms are luxurious, the spa is well-appointed and we always wish our stay could have been a little bit longer.

A rooftop pool is behind aha Gateway Hotel - Umhlanga's characteristic green ‘screen’ surrounding the front the building. This eco-friendly hotel is attached to the Gateway Theatre of Shopping.

It was a birthday gift to a family member and I mentioned the special occasion in my booking. My family were excited to receive a welcome basket of goodies for their birthday and a room that was sea facing. The Manager called them personally to invite them to a complimentary dinner but they were full from the delicious goody basket. They were then offered a complimentary breakfast and were very happy with the range of vegetarian foods that was provided to cater for them. The hotel more than exceeded our expectation in terms of making it special for the family member. Will definitely stay at Coastlands when we visit South Africa again.

I have stayed at this property before and was welcomed as a guest visiting for a second time. Fabulous welcome and upgraded to a two-level suite high up away from any noise Outstanding in every way. Breakfast was very good quality and all the staff incredibly warm and welcoming. Wi-Fi was excellent and the hotel is located in a very secure area with an abundance of shops, café's and restaurants.

Set on 4 acres of tropical gardens, this estate offers spacious rooms with private entrances. The terrace provides a swimming pool with a hot tub. Guests can enjoy a drink from the outside bar.
