Located in the heart of Kandy City, Villa 49 is 1 km from the famous Temple of Tooth. Its restaurant serves local and Western dishes. Free Wi-Fi and parking are provided. A cable TV is available in the lobby. This villa is a short walk to Kandy lake and about 10-15 mins to the city centre. The villa is an older property with nice views across the valley. We enjoyed watching the monkeys from our balcony as they made their way across the rooftops everyday. The host Shenani and her staff are a delight. Shenani is a great cook and we enjoyed beautiful Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner. Shenani also gave us some excellent options for temples to visit in the nearby countryside. Very helpful with onward transport too. Shenani also surprised us with chocolate brownies baked from the Edmonds cookbook which any Kiwi reading this will know well.

Located in Kandy, Amaya Hills, a leading 5-star hotel in Kandy, offers a hillside retreat overlooking the Heerassagala forest. Known as one of the best luxury hotels in Kandy, this hotel features traditional Sri Lankan architecture, an outdoor pool, a spa and a restaurant. Exceptional view. Great food. An ideal place to unwind from work and stress. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I think This is the best place to stay in Kandy.
Kandy
Yasmin Hill Longevity Oasis is not an ordinary hotel. It's a unique sanctuary where traditional Ayurveda meets modern longevity technologies in the pristine nature of central Sri Lanka, 820 m above sea level and just 17 km (about 40 minutes by car) from Kandy.
• Authentic Ayurveda – Healing treatments led by Dr. Chandrani with 40 years of practice
Everything. It was the perfect escape for some much needed relaxation.
The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.
Special mention for Nana who took us on a tour of the organic garden where most (if not all) the restaurant food is grown on site. A wealth of knowledge from this man, explaining all the health benefits of each plant.
The food was exquisite, so compliments to the chefs and kitchen. The dining experience was made by the manager Heradh, who was so enthusiastic and funny. We thoroughly enjoyed his warm nature.
It was also our introduction to Ayurveda which made our entire Sri Lankan trip that much more enjoyable. There is an Ayurvedic doctor on site with whom you can meet with and she proscribes specific treatments tailored to your needs. Our therapists were also great, Mohamed and Tharanga both so warm, friendly and accommodating.
This was one of our best stops on our Sri Lankan trip.
Don’t rush this stay, we stayed 3 nights and we wish we had stayed longer.

It's a very very charming boutique hotel. It has an Italian design. The manager speaks good English and knows what hospitality is. He organised everything for us, was genuine interested and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast is also good. And it's easy in this hotel to also meet other travellers (with families). The views from the hotel are stunning, it's a little bit out of the city center but therefore also nice and quiet.
Great hotel. perfect location. Rooms with mountain or lake view. Great design! Staff super friendly, great breakfast!
The overall design conception of Sanatha Suwaya is stunning and only furthers the deep, meditative experience of staying here. The place is absolutely beautiful with stunning views of the mountains. I liked it so much I didn’t leave during my two nights stay! Michael is an amazing yoga/meditation teacher and so helpful, as were all the staff. A really beautiful and tranquil place at a very affordable price. Thank you!
I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The views from my room were breathtaking, offering an amazing view of the mountains. The room was large and comfortable with a modern interior design which added a touch of luxury to my experience. The hotel’s convenient location to the city made exploring landmarks and attractions a breeze. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. They made me a delicious breakfast based on my preferences. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Kandy.
We had a very lovely stay! We loved the well designed modern room, it was very clean and comfortable. We also loved the gorgeous view from the balcony - pure unspoiled nature! The area is very quiet, totally in the hills and yet a quick tuktuk away from kandy. We enjoyed a walk around the lovely neighborhood. The food was great, local sri Lankan cuisine. We got filtered water at the house so we didn't buy bottled water, which is much more sustainable. We highly Hanathana house for your home base in the kandy region!
The staff and owners were friendly and very helpful. Our stay was peaceful and comfortable. Once inside you cannot say that you are in the city. Lovely interior design and very clean.
Great boutique hotel with the most friendly staff and new, well designed and clean rooms. our bathroom with both shower and a bathtub featuring a large Mountain view window was amazing as was the terrace. breakfast is varied and tasty (ok - coffee could be better:) Walking distance to the lake and some great restaurants. Honest currency exchange rate, better than most places in town.
