So green and beautiful and healing, like a magical hot spring treehouse tucked in a tiny mountain town. Exquisite food, soothing springs, lots of cozy nooks for lounging and resting all around the inn.

Amazing onsen experience! The property is pretty much hidden in the mountains and only accessible by car. The rooms are spacious and feel luxurious. We stayed in the house with both indoor and outdoor private onsen and it was lifechanging.

Simply - and by far - the best place that we stayed at while visiting Japan. The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The Japanese style rooms are lovely and they have a great view. The food is delicious. The Kaiseki is nothing fancy, but it is all very well prepared and a great experience. There are various onsens, most of them we could enjoy almost by ourselves. Definitely recommend Okyakuya to anyone visiting Japan!

THis was my first stay in a Ryokan and it did not disappoint. THe whole experience was magical - the room, the view over the hills, forest and town, the baths. The meals were excellent - two different breakfasts and and we took to the opportunity to have the Kaiseki dinners - an amazing assortment of tastes and textures. Kurokawa is a magical town that is wonderful to walk aroundand we took the opportunity to get an Onsen passport to try a few of the other baths.
THe parking is easy. THe staff were excellent and patiently helped us understand the way to to enjoy a Ryokan

Kurokawa onsen is extraordinary one of all onsens. Fumoto ryokan is located in the center of Kurokawa. Very nice staff with good English communication. Dinner was Japanese kiseki with horse sashimi, Aso beef tepanyaki, tempura, assorted vegetable and one glass of local sake. The meal was really delicious for me and my husband, my child meal was hamberg rice, curry, tonkutsu and it's also excellent. Private onsen was no need for reservation, there are a lot of rooms for private onsens. I didn't see any review about children so I was a little worry. But when I got there with my 9-year-old girl, they treated my child very well, all amenities for kid, kid yukata, kid meals and a puppy doll at her bed. They are definitely kid-friendly ryokan.
