One of the Highlights of our Trip. The two hosts made us feel like old family members from far away from the first moment on. The tents are wonderful and sitting on the terrace watching the wild giraffes and other wildlife was hands down under the top 5 travel experiences we experienced in our lifes. I highly recommend going there also with children and to show them the wildlife of SA with a huge variety of animals. The Braai in the evening is another highlight featuring the best products like organic butter or meat. Do yourself a favor and don’t rush it. We stayed for 4 nights and could easily have stayed longer as you really experience the pleasure of a spot where time stands still. Thank you for having us. We will for sure come back ❤️

* Visit to a historic Anglo Boer War site during a normal game drive, where the pivotal "Battle of Paardefontein" was fought The setting is good and we were in a anex to the main lodge with 2 other bedrooms with asitting room and fully equiped kitchen not used as we had full board. A lovely fire which was lit for us. 7 minutes walk to the lodge.

I had a wonderful stay at Amakhala Safari Lodge. The staff go above and beyond, the food is good and plentiful, and the suite is heaven. I recommend arriving by 2 PM on your check-in day so you can attend the afternoon drive. The drives are fantastic; the guides are very knowledgable and the reserve is huge. Come with a good attitude; you may or may not see depending on the weather or the fact that animals are unpredictable - but the guides will try their hardest! My guide Des made several efforts to find rhinos - even staying later than normal until we found them!

Located in the heart of the Amakhala Game Reserve, Woodbury Tented Camp offers an authentic outdoor experience in safari tents. The camp overlooks the ancient floodplain of the Bushmans River.

The en suite canvas tents have a patio and offer views of the valley. Each has a built-in shower, hot running water and electricity. The entire experience was phenominal. The amazing staff, the welcome, the foof, the luxury rented, and of course, the 2 game drives were incredible, with us seeing so many animals, despite the rain. We were mostly dry on the trucks, and there was a lovely fire to warm us up on our return. A fantastic family experience that we will never forget. Thanks to our fantastic guide, Roxy!

The luxury tents have a deck with private plunge pool and views of the surrounding bush. They come with thatched roofs and wooden floors, as well as a fireplace and minibar. The entire stay from, the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, was a joy. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Jono was a fabulous safari ranger - we enjoyed three wonderful excursions with him- he's a wealth of information, is extremely enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge, is friendly and a joy to spend time with. Kayla welcomed us and ensured we were well taken care of our entire trip. The food was good, the rooms were fabulous! My favorite luxury was the hot bath which was drawn and awaiting us after each safari.... if I could only train my family to do this at home... ha ha! I would highly recommend Bush Lodge - and would love to return someday!
