At the suggestion of Correos, we started our Bilbao segment of the Camino del Norte at the Guggenheim Museum and followed the path along the Nervion River the entire distance to Gexto. Gexto Rooms was chosen primarily due to its proximity to the Vizcaya Bridge (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), but was much more! This small hotel seems to be newly renovated with great attention to detail and hospitality. Bathroom was modern and clean and roomy. Bed was very comfortable and linens were of nice quality. Our hosts were gracious, accommodating, and interested in providing a fine stay, which it was! Note for pilgrims: Though not the "official" Way, this alternate route made for an easy warm-up day to begin our hike to Santander. Civil improvements being made to the pedestrian walkway have softened this largely industrial zone and a Lidl supermarket, located about 5 miles in, carried any beverages or snacks you might wish to stock up on. Arriving in Las Arenas early in the afternoon allowed for a relaxed start to our week and time to enjoy the town's beach promenade and sample plenty of pinchos! The following morning, we crossed over to Portugalete via the gondola— an experience that we would've otherwise missed! The Camino's yellow arrow was easy to find on the other side.

We loved the area, Zeberio is wonderful, so scenic. Beautiful woodlands, streams, rivers. Easy access to the train station in Ugao Mirabelles, for direct trains into the heart of Bilbao. The host, Michaela was excellent, very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Michaela even brought us a kettle.

The guest house also offers facilities for disabled guests. staff were lovely. always helpful and smiley. the bed was very comfortable, location it is very good for exploring the city. check in process was clear enough and the building, generally speaking, was clean! loved the possibility of leaving the luggage on the lockers. would recommend it :)

A recently renovated guest house set in the centre of Bilbao, Victorooms is a 2-star accommodation close to Arriaga Theatre and Calatrava Bridge. The property has city and inner courtyard views, and is 1.3 km from Funicular de Artxanda. The property offers soundproof units and is set 700 metres from Abando Train Station. Nice to be right in Old Town Bilbao with a bakery across the street! The coffee/tea space was terrific after spending time out in rainy weather. The room was immaculate and security appeared good. Although we never met Bosco, communication with him was helpful and on point.

À la carte and continental breakfast options with warm dishes, champagne and fruits are available. At the guest house, the traditional restaurant is open for dinner, lunch and cocktails and serves Spanish cuisine. Very nice room, big and spacious. Amazing facilities, good value for money.
