Your Host I am a gregarious guy and love to talk about the history of the property, stories of the village, and stories of my family. My wife is a high school teacher in Himare and we have a small boy, Alex - who gave the Bnb its name! I also manage other houses in the area and if all of our rooms are booked, I can refer you to neighbors and other available properties.

Come stay with an Albanian Greek family on the hilltop above Himare. Our family's historical villa has a stunning view of the Ionian Sea & Himare town below. From the porches of each room, you can look out across the sea to Corfu Island in Greece. I am a Greek Albanian and have completely refurbished my 100 year old stone villa that belonged to my grandfather. 100 years ago, my grandfather and 10 people worked for 1 year carrying stones from the mountains and sand from the sea with donkeys to construct this villa. It has 1 meter thick walls which keeps the inside cool in the summer heat & warm at night when it cools off considerably. Before there was the new town of Himare, there was a small town named Himare Village in the foothills. Alex's BnB is set on top of a hill in the old town right on the main road between Himare and Vuno, 2.5 km from Himare. My grandfather's property was abandoned for over 30 years and I have spent the last 3 years rehabilitating the space and rebuilding the villa and gardens in front. I have planted a giant walnut tree, peach tree, nectarines and other citrus trees. There is a also a large garden in front with potatoes, leeks, peppers, and many more

Himare Village is largely Greek Albanians and we are located in the hills 2.5 km above the new town of Himare. We have great views of the sea and the fields of olive trees in the surrounding mountains. There is also a 3000 year old Greek castle named Barba Ka a 15 minute walk or 3 minute car ride from our BnB. I am happy to give you a tour up to the castle and tell you stories about it.
