The Roost is a recently-built self-contained loft with secure garage underneath, bordering pasture farmland. This peaceful small hamlet is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with no street lighting and stunning views across the Culm Valley. There are country walks from your door, with pubs nearby. Dogs are welcome, but remembering that sheep and cows need to live in peace in the field right next door.
We love travelling independently to new places, walking, sailing and meeting new friends. At home, it is our great pleasure to share our beautiful countryside with guests. We are busy people, so we don't intrude on your break. But we are right next door for any advice or assistance.
Hemyock and Culmstock both have pubs that serve fabulous food, and there are many others just a few miles away. Breakfast at The Strand in Culmstock is highly recommended. Devon is famous for its network of hidden byways, deep lanes and ancient footpaths joining historic farms, pubs and villages. You can find lots of ideas on the Blackdown Hills website. Further afield is the Jurassic Coast footpath and beaches. The tow-path of the peaceful Grand Western Canal is nearby. There is a regular bus service to the bottom of the lane (100m away) that connects you to Wellington and Taunton, or Honiton and the coast at Seaton. Although we are deep in the quiet countryside, Tiverton Parkway and Honiton railway stations, the M5 and the A303 are all close by (though well out of earshot!).
