Come morning, and you step outside your two-room cottage with its sloping, tiered green roof and wraparound balcony, and you may well spot high-stepping deer in the grassland beyond. Colourfully plumed birds sing joyously in the thick canopy of trees above and langurs peer down curiously at visitors who invade their domain.
