Browns Bay is a beach-side suburb offering wonderful, safe swimming - the neighbourhood is home to dozens of ethnic and kiwi restaurants ( including Indian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Thai cuisine) and many excellent coffee shops. Well served with two supermarkets (Countdown and New World), the main shopping area features the usual banks, post offices, pharmacies and book & gift shops. Behind the main street is the beautiful Browns Bay Beach - summer sees visitors and locals alike sitting in the open air cafés, bars and bistros - taking in the views or just watching the comings and goings; the seaside park with children, dog walkers paddling in the warm evening sea breezes. If shopping is your thing, then the Albany Mega Centre is just minutes away. Rangitoto College is just two minutes away - and the Massey University Albany Campus is a handy five minutes drive.
