I was born in London but have lived and taught in various countries around the world. I am a language teacher and have always been interested in travel and meeting people. Having moved to a fascinating region of Portugal it was our goal to open an Alojamento Local so that visitors to the country can see what the central region has to offer.

PLEASE NOTE ! We have modified the property slightly to increase the number of bedrooms from 2 to 3. This gives our guests more flexibility and a more comfortable experience for the 5th guest who, otherwise, would be sleeping on a converted sofa. Luxury apartment for up to 5 people. The property comprises three bedrooms, Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bedroom 2 has two singles, bedroom 3 has one single bed. There is a separate fully equipped open plan kitchen/dining/lounge with shower room attached. To the outside there is a dedicated ground floor covered veranda with outside dining and BBQ facilities. There is a salt water pool and garden area, beyond which there are fruit trees and a vineyard set in 4000 sq.m of countryside. This is one of two apartments on the first floor of the owners house. The owners occasionally use the ground floor apartment.
Set in a rural location yet within 15 minutes drive of Tomar with its Templar connections, Convent and Castle and Lisbon is just an hour away by train from the nearby town of Entroncamento.
The waves of Nazare, famous Monastery of Batalha, the pilgrimage town of Fatima, Golega with its annual week long horse fair, the lake of Castelo de Bode, Almourol Castle, waterfalls ,river beaches and much more - an ideal central location to explore the region.
Neighbourhood information
Sumptuously appointed, fully furnished base from which to explore all that central Portugal has to offer.
The apartment is located half way between Tomar and Entroncamento on the edge of a small, rural village surrounded by farmland and olive groves. The village has a cafe and mini-market for essentials. Supermarkets can be found in Tomar and Entroncamento.
There are 2 ATM's, each within 5 minutes drive.
A car is essential for getting around the area, although Taxis are available and there is a limited local bus service serving the village.
Tomar Convent of Christ and Castle is just 15 minutes away. A further 5 minutes brings you to the spectacular Aqueduct which fed water to the convent and grounds from the 16th century onwards.
Meander through the warren of ancient cobbled streets, stopping off in the charming shops, restaurants and bars along the way. Sit in the riverside café and watch the world go by or if you are feeling more active canoes and zorbs are available for hire or there is an outdoor swimming pool close by.
Learn about the story of Tomar’s famous saint in the Chapel of Santa Iria and take a peek in the church of Sao Joao de Baptista.
Find a bargain in the Friday morning Market or visit the workshop where ladies handcraft and paint tiles. Pop into the Matchbox museum in the same courtyard.
The Industrial Museum (Fabrica des Artes) is a fascinating place to learn about the local industrial heritage.
To the south of us runs the mighty Tagus River. Its headwaters are in Spain and it flows all the way from eastern Portugal to the Atlantic at Lisbon. Along the stretch close to us there are some interesting spots to visit.
Visit the picturesque village of Constancia with its river beach, butterfly house, canoe hire and colourful Easter festival. Vila Nova de Barquinha with it’s modern sculpture park and the pretty riverside village of Tancos.
In November there is the famous Lusitano Horse Festival which takes place at Golega.
