Company information

HOOM is an idea from Lisa Meela and Hans Derks. Lisa will be your host at HOOM. HOOM is a small Beds and More (like a Bed and Breakfast, but just a little bit more). A small company, specialized in beds, food, sports and wellness. Our roots are in the mainland of Tanzania and in the north of the Netherlands. We love the island and we especially love this area. The sea, the nature and the local people. We want to share this with people that appreciate this mix and give them a special experience.

Property information

HOOM started in Januari 2021. A high quality, low price easy going area close to the beach and close to Bwejuu. There is good WiFi everywhere, a perfect swimming pool and A/C in each room. we are close to the beach. You can hear and smell the ocean. It is especially a very cosy, relaxing space for everybody. A good place for discovering the island. At HOOM, staff will listen to the guests and make a combination between the culture of the village and the needs of the guests. NEW: May 2022 we installed our own Solar-system. We provide our own energy for 95% but still have the back-up with old fashioned electricity. This is unique at our beautiful island. What we often hear is that Hoom is more beautiful than the pictures and that the name is exactly how most guests feel. For people that like to be served and that want to make their own meal. Neighbourhood information

We build HOOM with people from the village closely. The name is Bwejuu. The people are part of HOOM. Every Friday, they will cook their fresh local food for you. You pay directly to them. The men can take you on their fishing tour and the women can take you on their Sea Safari. We love music and dance. When we are in the mood and our guests like it, the people from the village come and bring music. Time to have fun. We have bikes, you can use. You can easily bike to Paje or Jambiani. Famous beaches, especially for kitesurfing. A lot of nice bars and restaurants. We can and will help you, if you want to see the island. To the Rock (the famous restaurant in the Indian Ocean) or bring you to Jozani Natural Park. We even have contracts with operators that can bring you to Serengeti, Kilimanjaro of Ngorogoro.
