I'm an American that moved to South Africa in 2008 and bought this beautiful farm to begin my journey as a winemaker and wine grower. Come and have a glass of wine with me and we can chat about what it's like to live your dream in one of the most beautiful valley's in the world.

Our beautiful guesthouse is located at Protea Heights, a 21.6-hectare working protea farm in the picturesque Devon Valley, on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. With expansive views across vineyards and valley to the Simonsberg, Stellenbosch and the Helderberg Mountains, Somerset West and False Bay, Sugarbird Manor is the perfect base to relax in total peace and quiet. Enjoy a dip in our infinity-edge pool, explore the many surrounding wine farms or tee off at any of the nearby golf courses. Whether you are looking for a long holiday, a short break, a company retreat or a conference venue, our staff will make sure that your experience is as special and thoroughly enjoyable as you could possibly hope for.

Neighbourhood information

Devon Valley is at the heart of the Stellenbosch wine region with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. There is an abundance of wildlife and birds on our farm because of the many trees and gardens. Its just 10 minutes to the heart of Stellenbosch, the center of world class restaurants and wine estates.
