The Karoo Prinia is a charming restored Karoo style cottage, situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, at the base of the Robert Gordon koppie. Thick walls mean that the cottage is cool in summer and warm in winter. The house is comfortably furnished, you'll feel right at home. A large sunny verandah with comfortable couches is ideal for relaxing.. sipping tea, reading a good book or just enjoying the views. Climb the outdoor stairs to a viewing deck, ideal for watching the sunset and sunrise.
We welcome guests to our family cottage and to the beautiful town of Prince Albert. We love meeting new people, where strangers become friends, and always hope that people will return. We enjoy mountain biking and hiking in the area and will happily advise guests regarding walks and cycling routes. We are dog friendly, and welcome well behaved canines!
Prince Albert is a small character filled town with only one main steet. This means that every thing is just a short walk or drive away, whether it be the museum, tourist info site, local hotel or numerous restaurants and coffee shops. The local dairy is just a 10 minute walk away, where one can buy fresh milk and delicious yogurts and cheeses. The Robert Gordon koppie can be accessed directly from the cottage, a short walk to the top of the koppie gives one superb views of the town and surrounding farmlands, not to mention the exquisite sunsets. Two olive farms in the area offer olive tasting and sales and the Weltevrede fig farm sells delicious fig products, stay a while and enjoy filter coffee and fig tart at the coffee shop. Visits can be made to the local donkey sanctuary, prior booking essential.
