We can highly recommend Matsushima Koumura. We stayed 4 nights and were very satisfied with everything. The owners were very nice and welcoming, the house is beautifully decorated and the little onsen perfect. The breakfast we had was very good and tea and coffee free. Everything was also very clean. The location is quiet, yet very close to all the sights in Matsushima.

The room was beautifully designed and very comfortable, making it a relaxing retreat after a day of exploring. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. One of the practical highlights was having access to a laundry machine and a separate room for drying clothes, which was very convenient. The bathroom was clean and well-equipped, offering everything I needed for a comfortable stay.

Even with the language barrier they did everything exceptionally without any issues. The food was amazing also. The dinners especially were one of the major highlights for me. I tried so many new dishes and they all tasted amazing. Being locally sourced also made if that more delicious. The room was also amazing as I had my own private onsen.

Featuring an open-air bath and views of river, R;MOGAMI is a recently renovated villa set in Kiyokawa, 27 km from Shinjo Station. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. Guests have access to a sauna and hot tub. I would rate them 20 out of 10! Absolutely everything was perfect: the room facilities, the view, the beds, the thoughtful amenities. The food provided was top quality, although you cook for yourself (which was extra fun for us), the result is restaurant-quality. We are very grateful to the friendly staff, who responded to any requests, were always in touch, showed genuine concern and helped us get to the hotel. Thank you for a wonderful holiday!

This was a wonderful stay with an exceptionally kind host and his 2 adorable dogs. He makes you feel immediately at home, and gave great suggestions about what to see in the area. The house was charming - its age in parts, It is a real house, that has been lived in and loved.

Located in Nishikawa and only 43 km from Tendo Station, Tsutaya provides accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. A hot tub is available for guests. Guests can make use of a garden. The atmosphere was superb, very helpful and kind staff! The food was also brilliant, I also used their sauna room which was very nice too and very reasonably priced. Overall, wonderful for the price. The view from the room of the lake was unbelievable as well.
