The Ilioperato hotel is ideally located in the quiet Imerovigli village, close to the Skaros rock. A scenic pedestrian path allows for an easy and wonderful walk to Fira. Being in Imerovigli also makes the walk to Oia shorter than starting from Fira, which can be an advantage for convincing some family members to do it ;-) This is a charming hotel which offers a stunning view over the caldera. Our room, bathed in sunlight and featuring a private jacuzzi, was very comfortable and functional. From our room balcony we could enjoy a tasty breakfast while admiring a breathtaking view over the caldera, including Oia in the distance. It has to be stressed that the hotel staff is very nice and helpful. Ioanna is a wonderful host and she provided us with precious advice and help to organize various activities, find a good restaurant, or rent a car picked up / returned at the hotel rather than having to fetch it in Fira. She definitely made our stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. When we come back to Santorini in the future, we know we will come back to Ilioperato !

What we enjoyed: 1. Location - the highest point of the island and much quieter than Fira where the cruise ships come in. The view from the room and pool area were completely unobstructed of the Caldera, approximately 1000 feet above see level. 2. The staff greeted us very warmly and were expecting us. Since this is a small boutique hotel, you become friends with the staff. Sharef and Cornelia were just a few that went above and beyond. 3. Small restaurant bar/grill near the pool was so convenient. We stayed one day on property due to view and service. 4. They suggested a 5 hour Catamaran Tour of the sunset at ~160 Euros per person, which included transportation and dinner. Swam in thermal core of volcano and other interesting spots. The greek food cooked by the staff was excellent! Highly recommend! If not a great swimmer, they have noodles for floating. We met very nice guests from all over the world! 5. The included breakfast is very good and ample, especially when eating on your own deck.
