Fantastic hotel in great location! Family run with much care & attention to absolutely everything! Extremely helpful & friendly family members run this hotel which has been in the family for generations. Additional staff in restaurant & cleaning ladies all very polite & friendly. The room was spotlessly clean with a beautiful view across the fields & a balcony which couid be accessed from the hallway with lovely flowers along the top of the balcony. The food in the restaurant was first class. We had the nicest meal we've ever had in Germany and the breakfast was fantastic too. All fresh, varied & tasty! There is a discount for residents eating in the restaurant too. As the restaurant is closed on Sundays we walked to gausthaus zollhausal which was a nice walk & took us 20 minutes. We had a lovely traditional bavarian meal there & the staff were very friendly with good English. It was all very traditional in the decor & building for the area. Good beer too! We really enjoyed our stay at de oedhof hotel & are grateful for the warm welcome & kindness shown to us.

    Berchtesgaden is an amazing place for a vacation.

    Berchtesgaden is an amazing place for a vacation. There is so much to do with free bus access to hikes and other interesting sites. The town itself offers many dining options, places to visit, and a very helpful tourist info center. Berchtesgaden is easily accessible by train and a stay in a guest house gets you free bus service throughout the whole fantastic region. We highly recommend it as a place to visit for at least several days. We stayed six and could have stayed longer to take advantage of the many beautiful hikes in Alpine National Park.

    It was a good place to stay for us to visit both Salzburg and Berchetsgarten, where we went up to the Eagles nest and visited the recently opened new Documentation Centre and Hitler's Bunkers - well worth visiting.

    Located to close to Konigsee lake, Wimbachklamm gorge, Kehlsteinhaus, Salzburg and Bechtesgaden, Ramsau is an excellent location to explore the area. It is well suited for families with kids and couples.

    We spent 3 nights here to visit Berchestgaden and Konigsee...

    We spent 3 nights here to visit Berchestgaden and Konigsee lake. We managed all of those things, including a boat ride on the lake to the church which was well worth it. Although I can imagine in the summer would be a bit overwhelmingly busy. We visited the Documentation Centre about the 2nd world war. It is presented very well, I feel everyone should see something like this so we can appreciate the freedom we have and try to live more peacefully. The Rossfeld panoramic drive was amazing with great views. A beautiful walk through the Marchenpfad forest with lovely wood carvings all the way through was very calming and relaxing. I wish we'd had more time to do more walks in the local area and maybe factor in a bit of relaxation time just looking at the mountains.
