I was in Nice for the second time, this time my destination was Monte-Carlo and Cannes. What I really don't like is that there were a lot more tourists compared to the end of October than at this time last year. We liked the hop on hop off bus though we couldn’t get the audio to work on our phones. The MuCee is great with excellent exhibitions and a sunset cruise on a sailing boat was lovely especially if you are young and happy to swim.But it was also good for an old couple. Like us. Like a lot of French towns, it is difficult to get a sandwich type lunch and also dinner in the evening as lots of restaurants closed in the evening. This city has so much to offer. It is a very walkable city, but also has great public transport. The landmarks and attractions are easy to access, and are all in relatively close proximity so you can plan a full day of excursions. I love the gardens and parks. Having to choose one every other time was mind blowing. Every park has its own unique touch and ambiance making it hard to say which one was the best. The first one I've visited was the one in Cité de l'espace where my heart sunk due to its unique beauty. The Jradin des plantes in Carmes is breathtaking the same. The Japonais Garden in Canal du Midi is just the place for meditation and relaxation. Every town has its own flavour and that makes Toulouse exceptional. Lovely city to visit, just go and try. There was an amazing open market to explore (Tuesday) and we found some great places to eat. Only stayed a couple of nights, I would recommend 3 or 4. We traveled on Interrail and took a train direct from Paris Lyon to Montpellier Sud de France. It’s was fast about 3 hours. The station is out of town but we discovered that they are opening up a new line (Oct 2025) to link up with Montpellier station itself so you can change and not take a taxi or try you luck with a bus that could take 45mins. Aix-en-Provence is a delightful city.
Aix-en-Provence is a delightful city. It is the birthplace of the painter, Cézanne and there are museums devoted to or include his art. There is a very beautiful boulevard called Cours Mirabeau which is very wide and has many fountains. On Tuesdays and Thursdays there is a huge market there. This was not my first trip to Lourdes and I found the destination to be rather pricy. Food is terribly expensive, like a portion of dessert is 9e. The destination only offers the religious aspect unless you leave Lourdes to visit the mountains.
