Thurso still feels a generally friendly town.
Thurso still feels a generally friendly town. The Visitors Centre was excellent, very helpful friendly staff, with advice, directions and postcards. The beach is lovely, and the castle very picturesque, though I have no idea if you can go round it as it is on the opposite side of a long inlet and I wasn't about to walk all the way round there on the off-chance. Good amount of shops, and seemingly banks still in the town. YNot offers expensive but good quality food. If you want a walk, or have a car, the Ferry Inn in Scrabster is a great place to eat too.Guest review byJonathanUnited Kingdom - 6.0

John O Groats is a very small place. which sort of has to be visited if your in the area. I wouldn't rate it as a destination if it wasn't for the fact its the northern most point on mainland UKGuest review byKarenUnited Kingdom - 10

Everything surpassed expectations.
Everything surpassed expectations. I had the most peaceful night that I can remember, the facilities were spot on, the views were spectacular and one immediately felt a peacefulness that I can only describe as sublime. The caravan itself was immaculate and I particularly liked the decking which had double doors opening out on to it. The provisions left were outstanding, the layout and size of the rooms made it easy for us of advanced age to navigate , the beds comfortable and the washing and showering facilities very clean and easy to use.Guest review byEdgar - 10

A really lovely hotel. Food (breakfast and dinner) was amazing (apart from Tart Tatin very soggy pastry). Staff professional, helpful and friendly. Disappointed couldn’t have a cocktail at bar. However, a fab place to stay.Guest review byCatrinaUnited Kingdom - 10

The proprietors Euan & Emma were excellent company and very attentive to guests' needs. The hotel had an excellent menu with accompanying wines, beers, spirits, if required. The hotel also had an extensive range of locally-produced spirits. The accommodation was excellent and well-equipped. The only down-side was the lack of TV reception - although being without TV was somewhat of a blessing!Guest review byBrianUnited Kingdom - 10

Dunbeath is an excellent stop on way to Scrabster to catch the ferry to Orkney. A quiet but working harbour with a lighthouse which we walked down to and we also walked up the river which was delightful.Guest review byAnna DUnited Kingdom
