FAQs about hotels in England
The Small Country with Big Appeal
For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.
Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.
Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.
With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

Lexicographer Dr.
Lexicographer Dr. Samuel Johnson wrote in the 18th century "A man who is tired of London is tired of life". I lived there for 10 years 60 years ago. (Of course, liike any old person for me the 'good old days' were always the best). London has changed almost beyond recognition, both in general landscape and population. But it is still immensely appealing for all the usual reasons. There are several new (to me) tube lines, so that access to any corner of Greater London (and even beyond!) is quick and easy. BUT: London is incredibly expensive. There used to be a book "London on $5 a Day". Today It'd be closer to $500 a day!Guest review byChristopherCanada - 10

Manchester city centre seemed clean and visitor friendly, plenty of street signs pointing to local attractions and a very good transport system. A bustling city with an amazing grouping of buildings young and old. We were visiting Bridgewater Hall (a truly fantastic concert venue) and found the Leonardo Hotel (opposite) to be an excellent choice. Plus, both were within easy walking distance from a main line railway system.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We love Bristol but were a little disappointed to see a couple of our favourite shops had gone. The weather was not on our side but it didn’t stop us from walking to Clifton. It was lovely to see the place again and we will visit again.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom - 10

The Minster guides and guided tours are really helpful and informative. They point out all sorts of features one might miss otherwise. Go to see the Treasurer's House behind the Minster for a quirky and interesting house tour, lovely garden and a nice cafe with good soup and scones. The Merchant Adventurer's Hall right across the road from our rental property was new to me and well worth a visit with a nice not too crowded cafe and garden too.Guest review byJ LUnited Kingdom - 8.0
