AustraliaFrom the moment we arrived we were welcomed warmly and enthusiastically by Simon at the front desk, who honestly made this stay go from excellent to absolutely superb. He was extremely helpful with giving us ideas of where to visit on the island and how to get there, and where we could get some dinner, completely unprompted. All the staff I spoke with during our stay were wonderful and a credit to the hotel.
The room was a great size, clean and comfortable, the wifi was good and the pancakes at breakfast hit the spot perfectly.
A lovely little village, not near much but perfect for a quiet nights stay whilst exploring Uist.

CanadaIt's a great little place, just a short walk from the Ferry terminal. Their restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday but there was a complimentary bowl of fruit which was a nice touch. I liked that there was a "residents lounge" which, had I stayed more than one night, I would have definitely used it more. It was quiet, comfortable and a safe place to leave my luggage after checking out for the daytime before I got my bus.

SwitzerlandThe view was very beautyful. It is also very close to the next bus stop which was very practical. The lokation is also a good starting point for many hiking adventures.
The room was bright and very clean. The hot shower after hiking was a bliss. Breakfast in the morning was very tasty and we enjoyed to chat with the other guests of the house.
The hosts of grimisdale guest house were very caring and always willing to help when necessary.

Stornoway is a busy wee town full of independent shops. I particularly like An Taigh Ceilidh where you are encouraged to practise your Gàidhlig. Only downside there are a few one-way streets which are confusing / frustrating if you don't know where you're going.Guest review byHallinan - 8.0

Whoever the owner is of this establishment is he should realise that a manager cannot run the place on his own even in quiet times. The managers approach to his job was perfect and his commitment to the customer was faultless. A person like him could find a job anywhere in the hotel trade these days as their are opportunities by the thousand everywhere. Just shocked to see him serve, clean rooms, do the drinks, serve breakfast and do all the computer work and probably lots of things i could'nt see. Lots to do- look into visiting the north & south area- all are within a comfortable drive. Get a map that shows the highlights- nature preserve, beaches, distilleries, standing stones, castle ruins, Uist Soap, restaurants like Politician, Charlie’s, Westford- all worth a trip. Stayed in Uist Travel Accommodation- clean, well stocked, ideal location- loved Peter & Archie (proprietors)- couldn’t ask for more! Went above & beyond to assist & accommodate! Isle of Harris Brewery is an excellent place to eat & drink. An Clachan is a very well stocked store with an amazing range of quality gifts and practical items upstairs. This review is more about Lewis and Harris, Sandwick is a small suburb of Stornaway. It has an interesting memorial to HMS Iolaire. We spent 4 nights on the island. Although the weather was pretty awful, the island is lovely and we spent a fair bit of time touring Lewis and Harris. The Butt of Lewis is nice and there is a lovely walk to Eoropie bay with lovely sandy beach. We are interested in birds and found Red necked Phalorope, GND, Red throated Diver, Golden Eagle, Guillemots, Fulmars etc. Take the drive across Pentland Road it is lovely and good for birds. Sadly we didn't really have raptor weather (lots of rain). Stornaway is a bit limited - if you want to dine out book well ahead as there aren't many places and they fill up quickly. We enjoyed the Boatshed at the Royal Hotel for dinner. EVERYTHING closes on Sunday (including most of the petrol stations so beware).Guest review byPaul A. MooreUnited Kingdom - 10

Lovely accommodation and host. We really liked the communal kitchen which gave you lots of flexibility on when you wanted to eat. It was also nice to meet other guests. Beds were comfortable with nice bed linen and we both had a good nights sleep. We also liked that it was centrally located and easy to get to the other islands. There’s not much to see and do in Stornoway but it is an excellent base for exploring Lewis and Harris. It was easy to reach the main tourist spots of Ness, Callanish, Carloway and Gearrannan Blackhouse Village. Also not far to experience the stunning scenery of Harris including the famous Luskentyre Beach.
