- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 848 reviewsWe had the most wonderful 2-night stay at the Thornbury Castle Hotel. Everything was incredible, absolutely incredible. If you think that because it is an old castle then you should expect a dusty old place, you couldn’t be more wrong. The room was spotless (Audley room), the level of cleanliness was 10 out of 10, they even offer an evening tidy up of the room which is complimentary. The food was amazing, from breakfast to dinner. Pedro from the terrace bar, Pedro from the restaurant and Jacqueline from reception were so friendly, polite and helpful, they really went out of their way to make our stay as lovely as possible. We will definitely return to this magnificent place.Guest review byMarioRomania
- From US$195.26 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,946 reviewsLoved the breakfast room, full of light and beautiful views over the Gorge in the morning. The staff were friendly, but professional, and breakfast was good. The interior of the hotel is designed well, dramatic colour schemes which really work, but at same time it’s comfortable too. Particularly enjoyed the bar area with its stunning views over the Gorge at night. The bedrooms were very simple, but tastefully furnished, classic/modern design bathroom with some period pieces in the bedroom, a nice nod to the history of the building.Guest review byAnna MariaUnited States
- From US$176.60 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 10,752 reviewsWhen we arrived they were still cleaning our room, we only had to wait for 5 minutes but they offered us a free drink. We had some absolutely amazing beer at the hotel bar. The room was super clean. Big room with a big bed, big bathroom. Absolutely great room, especially for this price. This was definitely one of the best hotels I've ever been to.Guest review byNeleBelgium
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 118 reviewsWe were expecting great facilities and comfort, from the photos and reviews, but they really don’t show how amazing this place is! The lodge was clean, warm and comfortable. Decorated and furnished to such a high standard, with everything you could possibly need and set in such a picturesque location. The hot tub was amazing!Guest review byMariaUnited Kingdom

We love Bristol but were a little disappointed to see a couple of our favourite shops had gone. The weather was not on our side but it didn’t stop us from walking to Clifton. It was lovely to see the place again and we will visit again.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I did not meet any staff on either arrival or departure but had previously spoken to the owner on the telephone who was most helpful. I notice you have a lovely photo of a property in Redhill which people might think is Hathway House! A better map based on walking from the airport is required. Loved the rocking chair & custard creams!Guest review byJudyIreland - 8.0
Lots to do and see for such a small place.
Lots to do and see for such a small place. Great for walking (as long as you don't mind hills) and the castle is spectacular and well worth a visit. Some excellent real ale pubs and plenty of good cafes too.Guest review byKayUnited Kingdom - 10

There was nothing much where we stayed in the actual village but a Garden centre was nearby for breakfasts and a local store for snacks and drinks and anything else we needed. We spent the day at a wedding held at Tortworth Court which was absolutely excellent for facilities, gardens, views and services. Very beautiful!Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 10
Portishead is a very smart town, kept very clean.
Portishead is a very smart town, kept very clean. It has a lovely marina, within easy walking distace of the coast. Enjoy watching the big boats go by at high tide to the docks. Also watchng the smaller boats going in and out of the large lock. It's worth going to the town centre where there is a selection of retaurants. The Indian Empire restaurant in the High Street was excellent. We will visit Portishead again. There is also an excellent bus service to other resorts and Bristol,Guest review byRees - 8.0

Almondsbury Village is an attractive village with a pub and community shop. The Swan Hotel up the hill, on the by pass road (A38), does good meals. There is a lay by to see the views over the Severn estuary and both bridges from the top of the hill leading down to the village. If you are staying in the hotels on the bypass it's a challenging walk both to cross the dual carriageway and walk up and down the steep hill down to the village.Guest review byPhillips - 6.0

Visiting mid-week I found the choice of places to eat away from the hotel was not great, some pubs were shut or not serving food and the Hungry Horse has a policy of shutting at 10 pm every day other than weekends - loads of Charity Shops but not much else however the easy access to Bath and Bristol by train make Keynsham a good place to stay if wishing to explore the area.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 8.0
