Visited from Canada and stayed here with my family / relations for my mother's funeral - the Red Lion staff were amazing throughout our trip - their food was incredible and everything was friendly, warm, caring and charming - just what you need at a time like that. Amazing place and I highly recommend - just a bit tricky getting to into the place off the roundabout - be careful! Appreciated the free parking and everything was great. Also appreciated the fan in the room as I found it a little warmer than what I'm used to.

Great location and facilities at this hotel. We really enjoyed the complimentary use of the spa. The shower was really warm and the bed was comfortable. It was easy to find parking and it is just a short walk to the beach and the town. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed a lovely meal in the bar area. We will definitely stay here again.

I love the place, it carries on to deliver more each time I visit. The university somewhat dominates with modern architecture, but there are a veritable feast of architectural delights... Town Hall and the most extra lovely theatre, next to a Wetherspoons, such is the dichotomy of Sheffield... Clearly a city on the move, pubs and places to 'eat' out are every where as is night time entertainment venues. I doubt I will ever tire of visiting the place...

Famous for The Stray, 200 acres of public open space; and the Turkish Baths; and of course Betty's tea rooms, and the Royal Horticultural Society Harlow Carr Gardens. A Victorian spa town with plenty of independent shops, coffee shops, bars and restaurants. A bit like a Northern version of Bath, without the Roman influence and a bit less Regency architecture, but with Leeds and York each only 40 mins away on the train, and two National Parks on the doorstep, North Yorks Moors and the Yorkshire Dales. Beautiful in the spring and summer with floral displays and public gardens. Great in the Autumn with cosy bars after a stroll through Valley Gardens, and plenty of options for a Xmas or New Year break. Not so much on the doorstep for young children, though there are some great activity farms within an hour's drive. A good short break for couples and groups of friends.

The sea front is lovely with two bays, North and South with a drive between, and recently it has become a good place to see dolphins (not guaranteed but good chance). We always visit the Scarborough Flyer to eat-good value. A lot of work has been done on the gardens on the Esplanade so worth a visit if nearby (South side). If North side Peasholm Park worth a visit. Please be kind to the gulls -they divide opinion but it's their home too!

Some of the remaining buildings are wonderfull examples of Victorian gothic and civic pride. However the road system is impossible for a stranger to follow. My Sat Nav was rendered incoherent! I literally had to hire a taxi to follow to get to my hotel. Dead centre with rats in the streets and lots of beggars. The Loading Bay Theatre is excellent but once again almost impossible for a stranger to find. Its as if Bradford is embarrassed to show itself, or can't be arsed!

Doncaster town is very depressing.

Doncaster town is very depressing. Big shops moved out and lots of shops closed entirely. Such a shame. We lived here for eleven years and moved with work but come back frequently to see friends. From the bank HSBC up Hallgate to the top is a very sad sight. Money needs investing to make it lovely again.

I liked the pool and gym. But the usage time could have opened a little later. You really need a car if you want to get around but plenty of parking space. The car park could have more lights as at night its quite dark especially if you're walking alone. The hotel was very nice. The breakfast staff were amazing and very friendly.
