This is the best one honestly! The owners are an adorable young couple who are willing to run the extra mile to give you anything you might need even before you ask for it! Their efforts towards sustainability are highly appreciated by my family! The quality of the handmade natural soaps for body and hair really impressed me! Worth mentioning also the fantastic breakfast full of high quality local products. I loved the fact that it was served and not offered as a buffet! Dimitra was refilling everything we wanted and this gives a more personal touch and a feeling that you are well taken care of! The rooms had wooden flooring a real bonus and were really generously sized with extra furniture (rocking chair) to contribute to the exceptional comfort. The fireplace would have been nice to try in the really cold depths of winter. Bathroom had a bath with a jacuzzi function, quite unusual. I did not have time to enjoy the spa aspect of the hotel. The delicious home made breakfast that was brought to the room every morning was wonderful. The room was clean , modern and stylish with lots of special little touches eg , slippers , fresh bread , fruit home made cake and cheese and ham topped up daily .. The town is a tourist base.
The town is a tourist base. Not particularly interesting or pleasant. We only went for the railway trip, but unfortunately it was cancelled on the two days we were there, due to falling rocks on the line. This doesn't happen very often apparently...we were just unlucky. Lovely town with wide spaces, friendly people and some compelling history attached to it from the Holocaust and the Greek Independence . Great meal at a local restaurant that was delicious and very traditional. Unfortunately it is difficult to get around without a car and taxis are way too expensive. To get to Ayia Lavra which is 4 kms away they wanted 20 euro up and back. In the end we didn't go to any monastery. Kalavrita is a gorgeous town with lots of Greek History important sites, amazing nature walks and hike, lovely very affordable food and welcoming people. Even if you don't ski, as it is known for the ski resort, there are lots of things to enjoy. I will definitely revisit as 3 days at Kalavrita were barely enough.Guest review byAthina
