You get a beachfront room view which is exceptional for the money. It is also secluded, but every morning with the low tide you can take a walk to Padang Padang beach. The breakfast was great, the room was clean, the staff was great and you can do yoga on the beach in the morning & afternoon, or try surf lessons provided by the hotel. They also offer massages and you can sit by the ocean right next to your hotel and it’s not busy at all. The water is clear and you can get some shade in between the rocks. this is an up and coming area in Bali. it looks like it will be upmarket from the shops, bars and restaurants that are already there. Its very busy and the traffic is hectic ( as is everywhere in Bali). Its a younger persons place as plenty of parties and activities. Always somewhere to eat in Seminyak. From bustling Eat Street to the quieter back streets. Ginger Moon is one of my go to places for food and Sea Circus for a great breakfast. Ku De Ta has been upgraded to a beach club atmosphere. I think I’d give it a miss next time as it has lost its ambience of a relaxed place to watch the sun go down now that they have a pool which was full of families. Uluwatu is certainly the tourist destination for fitness and wellness lovers, or those that love the coast. The locals are extremely welcoming, and whilst I don't necessarily recommend it, you can travel most of it on foot compared to the rest of the island. This is a great place to stay - plenty of shops, massage and restaurants - the beach is lovely with a lot going on all the time. Some good restaurants right on the beach and lots of surf schools etc. There are lifeguards in one area, not always marked and in the same place every day - not moved to the safest swim area. But there are nearly always very competent surfers around and lots of people keeping an eye out. But take care, the currents can be changeable. Great hotel in the middle of some lovely restaurants. Rooms are tired in need of upgrades and painting , but were clean and a very powerful shower. Staff were amazing and a good buffet breakfast with fresh omelette/pancakes. Pool area was relaxing and could do with a few more sunbeds. Didn’t get to the beach but a good shuttle service available. Jimbaran is a good place to spend the last days of your trip — it’s close to the airport and convenient for departure. I especially like the Sidewalk Shopping Centre, where you can find Western food, good coffee, and food giftsto take home. The fish market is also a highlight — it’s the only place where I trust eating local oysters, always fresh. The beach itself isn’t crystal clear like Melasti, but it’s clean and free from rubbish, unlike Seminyak or Canggu. For those who want to see a different, more local side of Bali, Jimbaran is a great choice. We found a shop in Kerobokan where all the locals went to buy clothes etc, the prices were set and very reasonable if you didnt want to barter for everything Our villa was at the end of a driveway a fair walk from the shops etc, we couldnt find a salon nearby to have a massage. Munggu and Seseh are at the leading edge of the ever expanding Canggu and for me by far and away the best areas to stay. Roads are less busy, lots of very stylish options for coffee and eating but still amongst nature and rice fields - though these are disappearing fast even here! Harder to find accommodation but well worth the effort if you value the qualities that made Bali famous in the first place.
