- From US$139.59 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 249 reviewsThe Hotel Kanronomori has everything one needs. The hotel staff is very attentive and professional. We particularly want to compliment T Ayana, who kindly assisted us with numerous arrangements and calls until we were completely satisfied. The hotel provides ski rental and ski lessons. Thanks also to Leo for making our ski lessons so enjoyable! There is a free shuttle bus to the nearest ski station. The food is excellent and varied at all times. There are many more activities and facilities such as live music at the evenings. The surroundings are mesmerising in winter, and when looked at from the hotel! We had a superb stay, and a very good part of this feeling is thanks to the hotel facilities and more importantly to its staff. Thanks to you all!Guest review byDanSingapore

- From US$65.91 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.4Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 1,533 reviewsactually i've booked the dormitory's room, but as arrived there, the staff said to me that it is too risky for women with no friend stay at dormitory's room, so they changed my room to single room with shower, tv, ac, and above all they did not charge me an additional payment, lucky for me on those day.🥹☺️Guest review byidaJapan

City is very pleasant and liveable with wide streets in a grid pattern that make navigating easy. Main attraction was as the main centre for Hokkaido, with day trips to outlying areas (Otaru, Cape Kamui, Yoichi etc) as the real draw card. Sapporo Beer Museum was also excellent.Guest review byMacDonald - 8.0

One of the best morning markets in Hokkaido - bigger and less costly than the ones in Otaru and Sapporo. Good place for seafood. Good location for short day trips to the coast. One of the easiest entry points to Hokkaido via Shinkansen from Tokyo and flights into New Chitose Airport. Very safe and clean.Guest review bykclohSingapore - 10

We loved Asahikawa, a very fun little city with a huge variety of bars and restaurants, easy access to local ski resorts, lots to see and do, and just a really fun, friendly vibe. Was a nice change after the hectic pace of Niseko. We will return next year and give ourselves a bit more time to have a really good look around (could do with 7 nights - our stay was 4 nights). Enjoyed the bonus of the winter festival being on during our stay, with spectacular ice sculptures the whole length of the main street, plus a big festival zone with activities, a huge ice stage, and dozens of food vans. We will be back for sure.Guest review byNicholasAustralia - 10

We did glass blowing at a great place called Il Ponte - made a glass each to take home! Also spent an afternoon Kayaking nearby at Shioya beach with Max at Sunnyside Up -well worth doing with amazing scenery and even a swim at a beach! Also found a great little place for dinner that locals go to called Summi's Grill in a little back alley near the Sun arcade. Met a couple of locals who go there every day!Guest review byPhilipAustralia - 10

Chitose being a small city in Hokkaido is convenient with the new airport just within a short travel time to reach. There are a lot food choices and moderate shopping available within nearby distance.Guest review byTANSingapore - 10
We've been twice to Furano.
We've been twice to Furano. It's a wonderfully friendly and relaxed resort. While it's not large by European or American standards, it features fabulously dry powder snow, and great restaurant options at the foot of the slopes and in the adjacent town. The fact that it is small also makes it easy to meet up with friends.Guest review byStephenAustralia - 6.0

For a two day trip to Noboribetsu, we enjoyed the hiking, scenery, and shopping near our hotel. The natural hot springs there are also quite unique - semi translucent in appearance. We really enjoyed soaking in it.Guest review byDennisUnited States - 8.0
Kushiro is a compact city.
Kushiro is a compact city. When I was there in February 2024 the city was fairly quiet. Kushiro is a good place to stay if you are interested in seeing the Red crowned-cranes (Tancho). The Akan International Crane Center is just over an hour away by public bus. It's also possible to travel to the wetlands and the many lakes in the area. The Kushiro City Museum is very good with displays of the natural history, geology and Tancho. There are also wonderful sunsets that can be seen in various parts of the city.Guest review byNeilThailand - 8.0

Most interesting places like Furano, Daisetsuzan and noboribetsu are not close to Sapporo even with self-drive trips. So don’t base your self in Sapporo as it is far from its own airport anyway. Stay in Sapporo if you want to explore its surrounding areas.Guest review byChangAustralia
