This was one the best hotels i stayed in my time in Sri Lanka. The staff was great and the owner even more so. I did a tour with him through the knuckle forest reserve and it was absolutely beautiful. He also knew a great deal about the places we went to and the local community. The hotel was clean, had a good vibe and the vieuw from my room was amazing. 2 other rooms where being built and he had plans to put in a pool. If this place gets known, its going to be packed with tourist. I would highly recommend this place and if i ever go to Sri Lanka again, this hotel is going to be at the top of my list.

We stayed for two nights – and it was simply amazing! High up in the Knuckles, right in the middle of nature, lies this beautiful chalet. It is very clean, perfectly sized, and offers breathtaking views. The whole property is tastefully designed and even has its own garden with vegetables and spices, from which fresh meals are prepared. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, making you feel welcome from the very beginning. We received valuable tips and had the chance to exchange thoughts about the surroundings and Sri Lanka in general. One absolute highlight of our stay was the High Knuckles Trek: we hiked for 5–6 hours through the mountains, saw stunning waterfalls, and even spotted a rare Leaf-nosed Lizard – an endemic reptile with a leaf-shaped nose, perfectly camouflaged in the forest. Another fascinating part of the trek was the constantly changing weather: sometimes sunny and clear, then suddenly misty and humid, which gave the landscape an almost mystical atmosphere. Our guide always took great care of us, ensured our safety, and impressed us with his deep knowledge about the flora, fauna, and the region. We are absolutely thrilled with this accommodation and can only highly recommend it – for everyone who wants to experience nature, adventure, and true Sri Lankan hospitality!

We had a really lovely stay at Pearly‘s! Ranjan the owner organized a cheap tour to the Knuckles Mountains by TukTuk for us. He also joined us to show us all the beautiful places over there. We went to a waterfall where we were able to go swimming and we also enjoyed the nice views. For breakfast we had typicall Sri Lankan food and also some Western options. Pearly the owners wife prepared everything for us. After that we were able to have a look into their home and talked about different topics. Our highlight was when Ranjan took us to local spice shops where we bought really cheap vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. We enjoyed everything about our stay there. Thanks for having us! P.S.: The sunrise from the terrace was stunning and there were many monkeys to see.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful, nature-surrounded retreat and honestly, I wish I could have stayed longer. The entire experience was incredibly calming — nestled in the heart of nature, the serenity of the surroundings was just what we needed to unwind. What truly stood out, though, was the staff. Sydney, the General Manager, Kasun the Butler, the Chef and the entire team went above and beyond to accommodate my partner’s dietary restrictions, ensuring every meal was safe, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. The food was outstanding, fresh, and full of flavour, easily some of the best we’ve had while travelling. Their attention to detail and genuine care made us feel incredibly supported and welcomed. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully designed to blend in with the natural setting. We woke up to the sounds of birds and the rustling of trees — a rare and peaceful experience. We really enjoyed how we have been integrated, we felt just like another member of the family. We were looking for an authentic experience to spend aluth aruvudu (Buddhist new Year) and we could not have dreamed of something better than the few days we lived at the SNF. After 1month and a half we have never experienced this kind of welcome elsewhere. The whole family is very open minded, intelligent, sensitive, curious but what probably touched us the most is their willingness to share everything: Food (of course) but also what life learned them in general whether it is practical skills like cooking, cutting a coconut, observing nature or more "soft skills" like their view on life and their wisdom. We hope to come back as we know this was a unique and special experience.
