Good re-imagination of the old Fort. Big trees in the yard. Great view from the tower. Good food. Friendly people. Ernest is the perfect guide for a drive into the Hoanib river bed and visiting the desert elephants. We did this in our own car.

We loved this camping!! The views are breathtaking and you can see some animals roaming around! Everything is well looked after, the leisure and restaurant area was very beautiful, the true definition of luxury camping. There was hot water and there was a table with benches to relax outside, which we really appreciated as it was something we missed at other campsites. Thanks! They have a shop with lots of souvenirs to buy, we highly recommend it! We wanted to thank Ziggy and Joel for the memorable experience we had with the rhinos. We feel so grateful to have had such a unique moment in our lives. Thank you ❤️

In stone lodges on the edge of the Etendeka Plateau, rooms at Grootberg Lodge offer far-reaching views. With an outdoor pool, it is run by an organisation that aims to improve local welfare.

It was an amazing stay! The setting was magical, the staff were incredible, and a very thoughtful gift basket made our honeymoon extra special. We’ll never forget the warmth and care we felt at Grootberg — truly a highlight of our trip!

A unique and seriously remote camp located deep in the magnificent mountains of Damaraland. The meeting point at Palmwag lodge and camp is great spot to swim, enjoy a cold drink and nice food and watch the desert elephants walk by. The drive in and out of Etendeka are fantastic environmental and game watching experiences. This is a very special off-grid place that only hosts up to 22 guests. The camp sits amongst a stunning landscape with a canopy of huge sky and uninterrupted starlight. All the activities are awesome, especially the hiking. The staff are wonderful, friendly and mostly local. The food is sensible - delicious, nutritious and properly portioned for minimal waste. Our tent was exactly what we expected, 2 beds with a small table, luggage space and hanging bars. The rustic outdoor bathroom included a bucket shower and surprisingly a flushing toilet! The communal campfire boasts views of the moon rising - we were there during the lunar eclipse. A short hike up the hill behind offered beautiful views of the sunset glow across the land. We have travelled extensively in southern Africa and this place is like no other.
