- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 607 reviewsEverything from the location to the quality of the stay, it was by far the best accommodation Ive experienced for a short holiday trip. The fantastic view of the ocean from the large, window entrance brought up the melancholic mood everytime we gazed at it. Laura provided us with the utmost service during our stay with quick responses and understanding of what we requested. The bedding, kitchen equipment and the bathroom was very very clean. I would definitely book again next and recommend 100%Guest review by혜민South Korea

The unit was new and super clean, fully equipped kitchen, they pay attention to many details and overall it’s just cosy. The manager through the phone was very friendly, the heater was on when we arrived late:) super affectionate cat accompanied us during the morning and amazing red sky during sunrise. Overall very peaceful and calm place:)Guest review byGabijaLithuania

Everything of John's Court Motel is excellent, location is on the highway but quite. Our two bed room apartment is very clean, massage tub and comfy bed. Also, John is very nice and helpful, special thanks to him for helping me call doctor for a small incident.Guest review byLuAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 184 reviewsThe views!! Our room looked south and we revelled each morning in throwing the curtains open to watch the beach come to life. The room is bright, cozy, clean and bed super comfortable. Stayed for a week and did day trips - were calling it ‘home’ each day as our sanctuary to wind down.Guest review byAndrewAustralia

I found Kaka Point had a lovely peaceful community vibe. The weather turned during my short stay there, but that didn't spoil my walk out to the lighthouse at Nugget Point. It was extremely windy with very rough seas, which made me appreciate how hard shipping must have been back in the day.Guest review byJudyNew Zealand - 8.0

Owaka is a small village, it has an excellent Inn especially for accommodation. The village has a small but well stocked supermarket, it has two restaurants and two cafes. It is quiet and peaceful. It is well located for visits to sites along the coast. It has a modern museum that gives you information on the history of Owaka it also had an art exhibition.Guest review byArthurUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Comfortable beds, nice restaurant and bar-although we only bought drinks. The ladies toilets were not cleaned thoroughly and the lighting was very dull in the kitchen. McLean falls are definitely worth the walk.Guest review byFawcett - 8.0

Loads of wildlife to watch- we saw bellbirds, fantail, a yellow eyed penguin, sealions all within a few meters of where we were staying. We walked over to Jacks Blow hole following the doc track beside the accommodation. We were down for a School reunion but have previously visited sites such as McLean falls, Purakanui falls, Surat bay, Cannibal bay, Curio Bay, Horseshoe falls. All well worth a look around. This is some of New Zealands presitine rainforest and home to many bird species as well as the world's rarest penguins - Hoiho - Yellow Eyed Penguins.Guest review bySarahNew Zealand - 10

A nice spot close to Owaka for essentials and not too far from Balclutha either. We found some books in 2 shops (second hand) at Balclutha but there was also a "library" fridge just across the road from the accommodation. Also a nice coffee just at the end of the street.Guest review byPeterNew Zealand - 8.0

Balclutha is a small rural country town, there all the facilities you need, plenty of places to eat out and shops etc. It is not a city with loads of night life. Dunedin is about an hour away It's a good base to explore the Catlins and the south of the South Island of NZ. The beach at Kaka point is only 20 minutes away there is a street food caravan serves excellent fish and chips. The drive from Balclutha to Cromwell, Queens Town, Wanaka, Milford sound and Lake Takapo are breath taking.Guest review byAnthonyUnited Kingdom - 8.0
