A bit off the normal tourist track - but well worth the stop over. Great coffee and toasties at Franks restaurant. Lovely Main Street to look at the shops. A large variety of antique shops. The river is very nice to walk along as well.Guest review bysharnaAustralia - 10

My connections with Taumarunui are mostly through the Tiger Moth Club which was formed there in 1969 and returns every October to the best grass aerodrome in New Zealand. We always get a great welcome from the townspeople - and the weather is (usually) ideal for open-cockpit vintage biplanes.Guest review byJohnNew Zealand - 10

The Whanganui Museum and the Sergeant Gallery are both worthy of extended visits, they are a highlight for any visitor to the area. The small arts and crafts galleries are interesting and innovative; some very fine and quirky cafes enrich the experience - for any visitor, Whanganui is now one of the most satisfying cultural locations in NZ.Guest review byAnonymousNew Zealand - 6.0

Due to a flooding warning, I canceled my trip.
Due to a flooding warning, I canceled my trip. Unfortunately, the motel did not meet expectations. I was told by the staff not to come again because they "don’t like my type." I will certainly not be staying there in the future.Guest review byDariuszNew Zealand
