Princess Art Hotel is a little gem. The room was a combination of historic and comfort. The view looking over the garden was charming and the room was quiet. You are able to rent bikes on-sight which was very convenient. The breakfast was scrumptious and two blocks down is gelato, a few outside bar/cafes and restaurants. The location was perfect both for riding the town wall and walking to the sites downtown. Finally- the front desk staff were amazingly friendly and helpful!

Ferrara was a haven for the arts during the Renaissance and much of this is still evident today. The powerful Este family held court in the multi-turreted Estense Castle, protected by a moat and drawbridge, and they were illustrious patrons of artists and authors.
Bellini, Piero della Francesca and Titian all perfected their strokes here, and the university houses parts of Ludovico Ariosto’s original manuscript of his epic poem – Orlando Furioso – containing allegorical references to his sponsors. The family is also depicted in Palazzo Schifanoia’s detailed fresoces, and the Palazzo dei Diamanti gallery displays works commissioned from the School of Ferrara.
Some Este tombs are in Corpus Domini Monastery and another is in the ornate cathedral whose three-gabled façade overlooks the crenellated town hall. Both line Piazza di Trento e Trieste, the main square where locals come to socialise. Another popular square is green Piazza Ariostea.
The Este strengthened their position through marriage alliances with the influential Borgia, Medici and Gonzaga families, but they didn’t have it all their own way. Ferrara’s well-preserved city walls were built for defence, and ardent opponent of the Renaissance, Savonarola, was born in this UNESCO World Heritage city.
Surrounding cobbled streets house many luxury Ferrara hotels, cheap apartments and B&Bs near the train station, available on Booking.com.

A compact walkable city filled with Renaissance buildings and unique cuisine from the Renaissance. Locals were proud of their city -- passionately proud. The bus drivers were helpful, and the locals were helpful and friendly.

An old walled town with an amazing Castle and a great art gallery (on a par with Bologna). A day trip to Comacchio and Ravenna is about 200km and well worth taking the time to see the Po Estuary and the Ravenna mosaics. I hired a car from Morini for Euro 45 and 15 for fuel. Hire a bike and view the palaces and museums as well as ride around the outside of the town walls.

We spent 2 days and nights in Ferrara and it was a rewarding visit. If you are going to stay in Ferrara, we highly recommend Triquetra - rooms for rent for location, value, cleanliness, comfort, the "coffee room" and especially the host Antonino. The town has numerous sites & museums which are almost all included in the MyFerrara pass which, for 22 euro a person for 3 days and 2 nights, also covers your city tax of 1.5 euro p.p. a day (after a little paperwork at the B&B). The medieval streets of the old town are interesting to wander in - they have a very 'real' feel. Sightseeing highlights are climbing the Lions Tower in the Castle, the Palazzo Schifanoia, Casa Romei and the Archaeological Museum. Also the small Cathedral museum for it's collection of scribed and illuminated texts. Unfortunately the cathedral is under heavy renovation at the moment so it's difficult to see much. For dinner, you must try Osteria I Quattro Angeli on the square behind the castle - get the lamb chops (if you eat lamb chops)...amazing. Also, very nice service staff.

While definitely secondary to to the larger cities of Bologna and Verona (the two main cities on my itinerary), Ferrara is also worth visiting for a day or so. (I can't compare it to Parma or other similar-sized cities in the vicinity unfortunately.)
It has an attractive historical centre that's nice to walk around. The main attraction is the castle, which is a museum, but there are other worthwhile museums in the city. Particularly Palazzo Schifanoia, with its impressive frescos. And the long alleys of the old Jewish quarter were interesting.
The owner is great, well organized and friendly, the building and staff is also organized well, we got the door pw and the key where on our room door, we didn't have to make anyone wait for our late check in, the room was very warm, clean and very spacious, hairdryer was also available in the bathroom.
The breakfast it served some blocks away by a hotel on the main street.
Some may think is not Optimal, but is actually a great choice, good variety and quality combined with hotel level service. Recommend
This is a great apartment. Overlooking the old city walls, and a 5-10 minute walk to all the sights, restaurants, etc. It looked better than the photos, which isn’t always true! It was very comfortable and very quiet even with windows open. Special thanks to Daniela for helping us get settled and especially for arranging a taxi for our departure when we couldn’t navigate the voice mail system for booking a taxi on the weekend. We really enjoyed Ferrara and would happily stay here again.
The location is an awesome spot to explore Ferrara. A short walk to the castle and restaurants and bars and next to the palazzo dei diamanti.
I would also commend the hotel's communication, how easy check in and all the processes were, and Roberto was helpful (e.g helping is us turn on the big TV in the excellent common room!)
To get breakfast included was great and the communal areas are very nice. It is an excellent budget friendly hotel, you very much get value. I would recommend.
Fantastic place in the heart of Ferrara - step out of the hotel and the castle is there staring down at you in all its glory. Staff incredibly pleasant and helpful. The room clean, modern, and spacious. You're an easy 10 minute walk from the Palazzo dei diamanti, 20 from Parco Urbano and the walls, and a stone's throw from the old town. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a place nicer than this in such an incredible location. Hope to stay again next time I'm in the area.
The hotel exceeded all my expectations, and I highly recommend staying in this hotel in Ferrara. The hotel is very close to the train station, and just few minutes (around 10) walking from the city center. The staff was very nice and helpful, and I particularly acknowledge because they provided a gluten free option for me for the breakfast. The breakfast was amazing with several options.
Hotel is great. It is a walking distance from Ferrara centre. We were staying here on our way to Rome with our two year old baby girl and enjoyed it. It has a garden in the middle where we also had breakfast beacuse it was the end of May and warm enough. Breakfast is great very rich and planty to choose from. Our room was on the ground floor so we also had a terrace. Our kid enjoyed it.
Low cost Ferrara sums it up. if all you need is a room to stay for a night or two, this is just the job. The building is unmanned and totally automated. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. There are 3 rooms on each floor and one bathroom on each floor that is shared by 3 rooms. It wasn’t so long ago that hotels in England were like that. Remember Fawlty Towers?
Only for front office manager I would have left .
Breakfast was reasonable but the hotel was very busy and the poor man seemed to be trying to manage alone .
Ferrara is a lovely town and we had access to free push bikes for the weekend .
The staff is super friendly, highly recommended to anyone travelling to Ferrara by car. No mosquitos in the hotel even in the hottest summer night. Lovely outdoor space with good wifi signal, you can easily work from there
Great location. Close to everything in central Ferrara. The owner is very friendly, kind and helpful. His property is beautifully restored. Comfortable bed, excellent shower room, bidet.
Nice air conditioning.
Very comfortable place and exceptionally clean, situated in s nice, quiet area of Ferrara town. The apartment has everything one might need for a short stay. Host was very immensely helpful and responsive!
Very nice little apartment designed with the taste.Extremelly easy chek-in and chek-out.Just few minutes from the city center, on foot. And big free parking near!
And the amazing Ferrara around the corner.
Nice and cozy hotel right next to Este Castle in the city centre. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Good breakfast at the start of the day. If I ever come back to Ferrara, that’s where I’ll be staying!
Lovely apartment in the heart of Ferrara! The design and details were adorable and we appreciated that we could open the windows to hear the cityscape or close them to be quiet and rest!
Lots if room to spread outside inside, but also the lovely garden to sit in as well. Perfectly located in the historic center if Ferrara; we could walk everywhere!
