The rooms were a nice size and the beds were comfortable. There was a lift to save you from having to take bags on the stairs. The hotel was quiet enough and the roar of the waves loud as it was directly across the from the ocean which I enjoyed .The staff were friendly and thoughtful. The restaurant was good serving breakfast and then in the evening they had dinner. The hot tub was large but only really hot two of the four nights. The hotel was very clean and had many spots to sit and relax outside of the room. There was also a bar up a bunch of stairs that had a Birds Eye view.
Offering a barbecue and terrace, Gardens Guest House is set in São Vicente, 2625 feet from Volcanic caves of São Vicente. You will find a coffee machine in the hostel.

Nice little place. I couldn't decide if it was a small hotel or a big BnB but it worked. The view was very nice. We could see all the stars at night from our balcony. Breakfast was pretty good.

The house is lovely, everything you need!
Very nice ocean views, close to the beach, restaurants and a supermarket. The area is lovely too, not too touristy and with stunning vistas!

Helena is very kind helpful and welcoming and made our stay very comfortable. The area is beautiful, the house is in the perfect location to explore the north part/north west, and spend time in the capital city.
House has huge en-suite rooms and a great size well-equipped kitchen, living room, and terrace with outdoor furniture.
We had dinner every day in Sao Vicente (5 min by car) Restaurante Calamar. Excellent food, and we were happy with everything we tried.
I am sure will go and stay here next time when we'll visit the island.

Sao Vicente is a great base for exploring the north of the island without really having a huge amount going for it per se (nothing negative). But Seixal is only a few km away and is my favourite village on the island! Sao Vicente does have a few ok restaurants by the sea but I had better meal experiences elsewhere during my trip. The local caves are closed for the next year or so.

The village is absolutely beautiful.
The village is absolutely beautiful. Ideal for walking around. The views are just stunning, especially if you walk on top of the hill where the small chapel is. It's just difficult to get there if you want to use public transport. Buses there are a nightmare. We were lucky enough that our previous host took us there from Funchal. Otherwise we would struggle as nobody whom we asked in Funchal knew where the bus stop was for bus going to Sao Vicente.

Sao Vicente is a small town on the north side of Madeira, rather less well known than most of the south side of the island. It has an interesting old church, a garden of indigenous trees (for plant enthusiasts), volcanic caves and interpretation centre (for geology enthusiasts) and several good restaurants (for foodies!).
From Sao Vicente you can travel along the north coast; westwards to Seixal and Porto Moniz, eastwards to Boaventura, Sao Jorge or Santana. Drive inland to Encumeada, the starting point for several superb hikes, or drive up to the Paul da Serra moorlands.
The roads around here are in good condition and easy to drive, there's not much traffic and the local drivers are quite considerate.
I've visited this area at various times of the year, for hiking and plant spotting, and there's always something new.
Food and drink? No problems! There is everything from simple roadside bars where you can share your coffee break with the locals to top quality restaurants serving authentic Madeiran dishes.

We saw very little of Sao Vicente on our short trip, since we were mainly occupied either seeing the sights in Funchal or else visiting along the coast to the East and West, rather than actually digging deeper locally. No time for a meal out, even though the hotel dining room was no good in the evenings. We've done a lot of caves before, so did not want to committ to that. So all we did was drive through it about six times without stopping to visit! Next time maybe, as it looks a good, if small, place to see more of.
The garden is stunningly beautiful and peaceful and the pool is a good size and looks inviting.
The property is surrounded by mountains and is alive with bird song. There is a very good restaurant within easy walking distance. Sao Vicente ,a short drive away, is a is a pleasant place to walk around and has good restaurants and shops.
Rooms were of a good size and beds were comfortable with sufficient blankets and the hot water bottle was a thoughtful touch. We enjoyed a levada walk nearby and visiting the north coast.
We visited a place in January 2022. The location is super cool (PR16 Levada Fajã do Rodrigues is pretty close). There is such a wonderful view, beautiful mountains, and a very nice garden!
The host is really helpful. For the first 2 nights, we had an uncomfortable mattress(too soft for us), but Cristina replaced it! It was super cool of her, we appreciated it very much! São Vicente is an amazing place and you can easily go to Seixal, Porto Moniz, Fanal Pond… with the car (btw the car is a must-have from my perspective).
I was blown away by the tranquility and the surroundings of this establishment.
It is a perfect stay. I would rate it higher than any luxury hotels! Wonderfully and thoughtfully decorated. The room was cozy, the shower had good pressure. The bed was fantastic, so comfortable!
The breakfast was delicious with many options to choose from.
And they also have a beautiful friendly cat Tasha who is always up for company :)
Next time I’m in Madeira, I will stay at this place for the whole time
Close to the nice part of São Vicente, which is the older center (and not by the sea). A really nice well kept house in a quiet neighborhood with a pool (though we didn’t use it). Nice to have a fully equipped kitchen and a proper seating area and everything felt pretty new and fresh. Good parking lot with an automatic gate. We never met Duarte, but he was very helpful via the app and gave us all the information and help we needed by text.
The little house is perfect for a stay in Sao Vicente. Is has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We highly appreciated that it had a washing machine. We were greeted with a bottle of Madeira wine and home made cookies, very thoughtful. Janine who administrates the property, is a wonderful person, very attentive and communicative. She gave us lots of info on where to eat, drink, trekking spots and so much more.
The location was outstanding with the ocean right outside the window and next door were plenty of bakeries for breakfast, restaurants for lunch and dinner, bars for relaxing and a supermarket too for everything else. It was also easy to get everywhere in north and western Madeira from Sao Vicente. The apartment was spacious, pleasant, and had all the essentials.
Got my booking changed with a day's notice, and great hospitality from Frederic.
Was helpful with everything and I felt really welcome.
Right in the center of Sao Vicente and close to cafe, supermarket and bus stop.
Took off from there with a smile on my face and a good experience.
I can’t imagine a more perfect place in São Vicente. For the price of a hotel room you can be on a comfortable apartment in the center of the village. There are restaurants and a market in easy walking distance. Filipe is a wonderful and helpful host. Great views from my balcony.
Nasrin is a very kind, warm-hearted and reliable host, we felt very welcomed. The house is in a quite area (you can hear the ocean) and still you can walk very easily in 10min to Sao Vicente for dinner & drinks. We had the best sleep there during our vacation.
Nice, calm place in Ponta Delgada with beautiful sunset views. Bus station is just a few footsteps away to go to Sao Vicente (Funchal, Porto Moniz) or Arco de Sao Jorge (Santana, ...). Or just start (or end) your hiking directly at the house.
Location was perfect, communication with the house owner was pleasant, nice surrounding (supermarket, nature and gas station), view to the village. Nice fully equipped kitchen (permanently available) and the hall with the fire place.
The gorgeous view and the kindness and generosity of the host. we were warmly welcomed with wine, a bowl of fruit, fresh eggs, and more. Sao Vicente is a beautiful location with so much natural beauty. great hikes nearby!
