Had to check in early which wasn't a problem. The two staff were great - they speak English quite well, and were very patient with our very poor Japanese. Dinner + Breakfast is really good (but you do need to let them know you would like to have dinner when you are making your booking).

Located in the historical Shibu Onsen district, 渋温泉小石屋旅館 offers both private and dormitory-style guest rooms as well as an on-site restaurant where local dishes, wines and craft beers are available. Amazing staff who were really helpful by providing information and transportation when needed. I was in the shared room / dorm which was quite spacious for three people. They provided clear indications regarding the onsen system. Breakfast options were nice. I recommend it.

Oshi Ryokan ligger blot 5 minutters gang fra den historiske Togakushi-helligdom og tilbyder traditionel indkvartering i det fredelige bjergområde, der brugte til pilgrimme. Oshi Ryokan welcomed me with an authentic beauty of the building and the people. The location is almost right next to the shrine and the bus stop. The ryokan facilities are amazing: beautiful Japanese style room with a warm kotatsu table and fluffy futon to snuggle in, and a big tub of hot water that you can soak your whole body in it. There are also many Japanese traditional rooms and small elements to admire. If you are into Japanese aesthetics, you’ll be in awe. The service is excellent. Everyone is so hospitable and kind. I recommend booking with meals. You won’t be disappointed with the food and the service. Every dishes was very well-prepared and delicious. The dining room, plates, cups, glassware, and all details on the table was beautifully arranged. It’s not very often that eating can make me feel like art administration and I was very well pampered. I’m very grateful for the experience. I hope to be back exploring Togakuchi and stay at Oshi Ryokan again. Until that time, I’ll cherish this memory.

Yudanaka Onsen Yamazakiya ligger blot 10 minutters kørsel fra Snow Monkey Park og tilbyder enkel japansk indkvartering med gratis WiFi. The location was fantastic. During our visit, the town was delightfully quiet with few tourists. It offered a serene atmosphere, and we enjoyed strolling to the nearby shrines.

Kadowakikan ligger 3 minutters gang fra skisportsstedet Nozawa Onsen og tilbyder ski til dør-adgang, varmt kildebad og gratis wi-fi. The location was excellent, close to the free shuttle bus pick up point to Nagasaka and a mere 6 min walk from the Shinden bus stop. The owner was super helpful and kind, going out of his way to help ensure that my stay was great. He offered a ride from the Shinden bus stop on arrival, and constantly checked on whether I needed anything else. He also readily provided information of the area, and provided guidance of where to eat around the hotel. The room was really clean and comfortable, and it was a really big room. A different snack is given daily too. Overall it was an excellent stay, and I would be happy to return again, if I can get a booking.

Tawaraya ligger 5 minutters gang fra Yudanaka Station og tilbyder indkvartering i japansk stil med gratis WiFi og fladskærms-tv. I opted for the Kaiseki meal with my stay and it was largely very good. The room was comfortable and clean, and the location was very central to the station and bus stops to attractions like the Monkey Park. Staff were helpful and attentive, and the outdoor hot spring bath was beautiful and well maintained. It was on the pricier side but the value was also high.
